We never liked each other, but she's dead now, so that's not a
problem.

But, one has to keep these things in perspective, and a touch of humour
goes a long way. I suppose that we recording professionals should be
grateful to Stewart
for teaching us all how it is done?

Hmmmmmm, I note that you've used this term before. Just exactly what
kind of 'recording professional' are you?

OK, that's enough - there's room for only *one* wag in this group and
I'm *it*, so bugger off!

Oh dear, self-deception is such a sad thing............

Sorry Keith:-)

I did na mean to step on your toes, Master of Wit and Repartee.
But SP has you all dancing. You looked as if you might need a bit
of support. This thread is pretty stormladen.

Ohhh booger, don't spoil the fun! All the little fingerbobs are
dancing quite nicely......................

Yes, you're right - time to hand over to some fresh blood! :-)

(I think you might have to have a chat with Andy to see who gets the
'Group Wag and Bigot Basher' cap and badge though - he's off like a good
'un!! ;-)

I wonder why I always seem to take exception to what SP writes?

Because of the way he says it and the torrent of personal abuse that usually
accompanies it.

I don't generally *start* the personal abuse, but I'm happy to pour
ridicule on ridiculous comments.......................

Funnily enough, there has been a programme on the telly
about Tourette's Syndrome tonight. (Swim's a psychologist and watches all
that sort of stuff - I was playing Elgar and VW on vinyl.... ;-) I'm
seriously wondering if he's got a touch of that.....???

As I understand it, that's an involuntary reflex, and hardly likely to
translate to a typed response. BTW, I suppose VW is appropriate for
any true audiphile.............

Ten years with Decca, fifteen with RCA.
Plus lots of experience in film and TV post-production (digital multitrack)

And you?

Cordially,

Whilst we are on the subject you stated in a post that your own system was
'as good as it gets'

I think you'll find I said *nearly* as good as it gets. But then,
accuracy has never been a 'valvie' thing............

Now I would never never had said that because I've
heard better than mine that belongs to a multi millionaire with a large
castle here & no expense spared. Research is ongoing and your kit is also
very old. Your old 50W Krell was manufacturered off the back of the time
when Krell hit all the comix (with larger amps than yours) as being able to
drive a sub 1 ohm load & Krell was all the hype at the time and buzzword. I
also fell into the trap of buying a new KSA-100 MkII not realising they all
had etched treble that would ingrave steel, What a load of crap, I like many
others offloaded them quickly. IMO Krell only begun to get it right with the
KSA-250 and have improved since then. Try the later ones you may get a lot
closer to 'as good as it gets' sheez

Your opinion is noted. FYI, I've compared mine with a current
production FPB 300, and up to its much lower maximum limit, it sounds
*exactly* the same under level-matched DBT conditions. That was
playing into JMLab Utopias. The 'steely treble' thing was always just
a myth put about by jealous rivals, but it obviously fooled some
suckers who only used sighted listening. They probably became
'valvies' in that search for legendary liquid treble..............

BTW, my all-time favourite is the KMA-160, but that's just because it
has no fan, and was the last of the *real* class A Krells (the 250
gets variable reports in this respect, and has suspiciously small
heatsinks). I have a very quiet listening room, and even at twelve
feet, the fan sets the noise floor.

Robbie the robots master named them anyway :-)

No, they were there long before Morbius arrived. When I toyed with
going commercial, I fancied calling my gear MOTI. If you'll recall,
the monsters of the Id destroyed the Krell in a single night! :-)

OK, it was actually monsters *from* the Id, but MFTI didn't scan so
well as an acronym. Parts cost worked out too high, anyway.......

Audiphile? I though it was you who had the Audi?
And don't knock Ralph. He is one of England's finest.

It's OCD heaven

I don't think the OCD people I've seen would describe this as heaven.

Ah yes, it must be nice to 'hang out' in a protected mutual back-slapping
environment, (SP)

It is extremely nice. The posts are moderated, which is why you wouldn't last
very long there.
