two? what for? surely one for general waste, and the other for recycling? Its worse than that here. we have THREE and we only get collection of two of them every other week. one wheelie for rubbish one wheelie for 'garden waste' (fekkin' hillarious as our garden is largely concrete) one box (which reeks because they always give us someone elses back) for recycling (cans and glass bottles only since they're too incompetant to recycle even plastic bottles, let alone any metal not in the shape of a can... |

Presumably, but we get 3 - one for crap, one for recycling and one for garden (green, compostable) waste and it works very well. Until we do, it remains hard to say what might or might not be buildable to achive the (ill-defined) result. I'd settle for simply being able to demonstrate that the effect is audible in DBTs by those who claim to hear it. DBTs do not take into account psycho-acoustics. I fail to see why not. if a person is perceiving something that isnt there due to nonlinearities in their hearing / perception, they will probably hear the same 'something' on every recording where it is present. psycho-acoustic phenomena arent 'made up', they are an artifact of a persons hearing. If the effects existence can be verified, THEN Im interested in tracking it down. Why? Because I find that most times someone makes an extrodinary claim, it is genuinely ********. Im not interested in tracking down a figment of someone elses immagination. |

So isn't it about time you added your page to the UKRA website so that we can all see the results of the wisdom you have gained in the field of audiophilia? Why? If I get round to putting up a page about audio it'll be on my website. |

"Tat Chan" Oh yes they did - it wuz Pinkypoof. More typical ******** from the hairy-arsed ex-trucker. I never said any such thing, indeed I'll point you to Tim de Paravicini's solid-state version of his Yoshino, which is a *very* bad amp, and costs lots more than £300. why is it "bad"? - it isn't a wire with gain? - lots of audible distortion? - it "sounds" like a valve amp? All of the above. so a SS amp can be designed to sound like a valve amp? Difficult to find an advert for an ss amp in a UK comic that doesn't use the word 'valvelike' at some point, these days...... |

That wasnt my question. My question asked why Keith couldnt accept the 'cold harsh sound' of SS amps was due to a LACK of audible distortion. Who said he couldn't accept it? He has remarked several times that he doesn't really care why the sound was off. I say so. Hes remarked a number of times that SS amps distort or remove something. he seems desperate to prove that valve amps offer 'value added' and SS amps take away from the sound. I said nothing about wether valve amps distort. That would make a change. I got so used to it being your mantra that I presumed it was at the root of your question. Yeah well, we all know you like to presume too much m8. |

I don't think anyone will argue that valves are old technology, but does that
as such have any bearing on anything ? Certainly does - it encourages new production of UX bases to get those lovely 26,27,37,53,56,76 tubes back up and running! === Andy Evans === Visit our Website:- http://www.artsandmedia.com Audio, music and health pages and interesting links. |

Absolutely everything that is rottable goes on my compost heap in the garden, In my case, that leaves essentially nothing as I don't buy anything in tins, and the very few bottles, like olive oil, last for ages. Veg comes from the market in paper bags, as does fish and meat. What else it there? d Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |
