I bought some Altec Lansing Series 100, for £24 from Dabs.
I'm well pleased.

Currently listening to www.radioveronica.nl sounding good @ 96Kb/s
Unfortunately playing Phil Collins now, but next tune will be better.

I have a Rio Karma hooked up to Aego 2 speakers, and the quality is
excellent. Generally not the case though, I agree.

Well encoded 320kbps MP3's are a *lot* better than DAB and are all but
indistinguishable from the original CD

They're built down to a price. Same as DAB.
Most I know who have a DAB portable for kitchen use are more than happy
with it. Horses for courses.
