Rear speaker wiring in an Octavia. by Elder
Anyone done it? The wires are even missing in the ISO (front speaker wiring present only). What way did you fit pins into the ISO connector? What interior trim did you need to remove to get it hidden properly? I was thinking about getting one of those fitting kits for converting older cars to ISO, removing the wires for rear speakers and fitting them into the Skoda ISO connector. Am I likley...

Replacement bee sting by Robert
The standard bee sting aerial on a new VW is too long/tall for our garage door. Is there a good quality replacement available mast - for FM only - that will not degrade the reception performance? Grateful for any advice. -- Robert

How standard are CD changer controls? by Elder
I'm considering going back to the CarPC project again now that CarTFT in germany are stocking a double din Screen with AM/FM and a USB DVD rom drive. http://www.cartft.com/display_db/display_pics/CID650_Front.jpg http://www.cartft.com/display_db/display_pics/CID650_Side.jpg On the rear it has what appears to be a changer/remote control/line out socket above the power/speaker sockets. See...

two radios and two sets of speakers - wiring? by bioboat
Hi all I live on a boat, and having a 12v system use a car stereo and speakers. Everything works fine, so maybe it's time to try something different... For various reasons I want to install a second car stereo into the boat, alongside the first. Obviously it would be too easy to wire them up to seperate speakers, so i'd like to wire them up so that you can choose whether speaker set A is wired...

Sony XA-110 iPod adaptor problems by Glenn Richards
Have replaced my Connects2 iPod adaptor with the official Sony one (using with MEX-BT5000 head unit). The sound is definitely better (less noisy analogue electronics), but I'm having a couple of operational problems with it... Firstly I can't get "random albums" mode to work - I've got smart playlists set up on the iPod that are supposed to play complete albums from a specific genre in a...

replacing CD player by Rodders
My wife's car had a JVC KD-G202 cd player fitted in it. My son dropped the facia and now the volume control does not work. Can I fit any other JVC facia to this or does it have to be a KD-G202. Is each unit different? Rodders

Fitting Tomtom 910 to Puma by glimmerung
I'm looking at the Tomtom 910 and would like to fit it so that it can use the CD6000 to output to the car speakers. Trouble is, there's no aux input on the CD6000. It does say that it can take a CD changer though, so I was wondering if there would be any way to connect it up to this. If anyone has done this, or knows anything about how to sort it out, I would be grateful.

Aerial booster by [email protected]
I installed an aerial booster for the JVC head unit in my Skoda Fabia a couple of weeks ago. Worked fine. Car went to dealer for power steering pump replacement. Now aerial booster not working - no stations can be picked up. Got replacement booster from shop. Still no joy. I can't think of what the mechanic could have done to cause this. ( assuming that's what caused this problem ) He will...

Connects2 vs Sony iPod adaptor by Glenn Richards
Just noticed that Sony have now done an official iPod adaptor (XA-110). I'm currently using the Connects2 adaptor with the MEX-BT5000. One thing I've noticed with the Connects2 unit is that there's sometimes lag in changing tracks, playlists etc. Not really a problem, but still... The only "issue" with it is having to use the repeat function to change between album/artist/playlist mode (as...

Usability of Pioneer DEH-P77MP with iPod adapter by P
I'm considering connecting an iPod to the DEH-P77MP using the Pioneer ipod adapter. Question is - how usable is this setup? If I have, say, 100 or so albums on the iPod then how do you select what to play using the headunit since it doesn't have any kind of scrollwheel mechanism. Is it a case of rotating the jog-dial to go through each album one-by-one to the select one to play? Or is there...
