Can ISO units be cascaded? by
Jim Murray
I have a 1996 Vectra with factory-fitted Philips CAR400 radio-cassette(ISO).
I've added a Blaupunkt 4x25w amp but now I'd like to install a CD/MP3 tuner
as well(still need access to the tapes at the moment). My question is: is it
possible to "cascade" the radio-cassette with the CD/MP3 tuner via a
splitter cable or similar? I've looked at buying a CD unit with an aux in
input at the front(was...

Nissan Micra: ISO compatible head unit? by
bruce phipps
Nissan Micra 96N.
Factory-fitted Blaupunkt radio/cassette. Cassette refuses to play or
rewind anymore.
I'm going to buy a replacement head unit.
Are Nissan ISO compatible, or will I have to buy wiring harness and/or
fascia adapters?
Thanks
Bruce

Astra 3D '01, Audio Upgrade IDEA's? by
MrFresh
Hey guys ,
just purchasing a Holden (Opel) Astra 3door '01. The car is all factory
currently, but looking and giving it a source upgrade, followed by speakers,
powered by amp in near future.
I'm already keen to go and grab the Sony CDX-L490X (Silver) deck, since it's
well laid out, looks attractive, (has an adjustable Eq), plays CD-RW and is
cheap.

Which is the better amp? JBL vs PG? by

Which is the better amp?
JBL has freq adjust for the bass whilst the PG doesnt. Apart from the 50RMS
power difference which amp is the better choice? Just powers a single

How to secure a head unit properly? by
Dan
My 91 Trans Am just seems to have a massive hole where the stereo belongs -
I have no idea what the original system in there was. I have plastic fascia
covers to cut the hole down to the right size, but can't work out how to
secure the head unit in there (standard size Kenwood). There's nothing to
stick the mounting cage onto because the hole is about twice the size of it.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Dan

Skoda Fabia CD changer options by
MeatballTurbo
GF has a 99 Fabia with the fully enclosed factory audio system (no
normal DIN slot).
She wants to add either CD multichanger, or MP3 playback.
Anyone know what year the Fabia had a CD changer option, and where to
look and see if the cable is there?
Would be nice to know that Skoda just use standard VW based audio
system, and that I can use cable adaptors to convert the factory cd

help with understanding the right connector by
Dave
I just took out the factory stereo from my 1990 honda civic and would
like to put a CD player in.
The connector from the car to the factory stereo is ISO (I guess?).
The stereo didn't have any wires leading coming out of it. It had a
female port on the rear right where two black rectangular connectors
from the car plugged in, plus what I assume was the connection from
the aerial on the other...

VW Aerials? by
Dr Zoidberg
I know most modern VWs have the stubby aerials that need a 12v supply for
the built in booster , but should a P-reg polo need one as well?
Fitted a sony stereo in a friends car (to replace a factory fit sony) and he
has no MW reception. I'll be checking the aerial connector is secure at the
weekend , but would like to know if the aerial is likely to be causing grief
as well.

getting the radio cage out of a 1991 cavalier by

If anyone's familiar with the older Vauxhall Cavalier I'd appreciate some

The factory-fitted radio cage is enclosed at the back, with the ISO
connectors set right into it. Looks like the connectors are separate and
pushed through slots rather than part of the cage itself (I hope).

Help - Whick blanks to use with Panasonic CQRD472 ? by
Jayesh Patel
Hi all,
I have a Panasonic CQRD472 head unit that is advertised as being CD-R/RW
compatible.
However the blanks I currently have refuse to be read by the unit either
when a audio cd is cloned, or if individual tracks are recorded onto the
disc. Btw, the discs are Precision 80min's with a silver top and they play
fine on my home stereo.
Anyone have any experiance as to which discs work best with...

Can you measure Impedance with an Ohm Meter.. by

Is it possible to measure Impedance with an ohm meter.
For example can you measure the Impedance of a 4 ohm
car speaker with an ohm meter?
When I tell people they cannot measure Impedance with an
ohm meter, you need an impedance meter and the impedance
must be measured with the speaker in operation, with a signal generator
supplying a fixed frequency, this always leads to disagreements
with the...

JL W3v2 sealed or ported by
Jeff
I have a Suzuki vitara and am about to build two single ported boxes for
them (2 x JL12W3 v2D4) to fit behind the rear seats. For those of you that
don't know the vitara, there is not a lot of space behind the rear seats. If
I make sealed boxes they will fit no problem, if I make ported boxes they
will have to be slightly taller and just peak over the rear seats, which
doesn't really bother...
