Fitting VW Gamma stereo in older Polo by
Borat
I've been given a newish Gamma radio/cassette (and its code) which I'd like
to use to replace the crappy Sony that was supplied with my '98 Polo.
When I connect the 2 ISO connectors (speakers & power), the unit stays
dead.
Are there any tricks that I should know about that will bring the unit to
life. I'm a competent electronics technician with experience in repair of
AV equipment, so I'm not...

Sony CDX-F5500 v. Panasonic CQ-C3300U v. Pioneer DEH-P4600M by
jas kim
Any experience with this HU?? A year a half ago, I purchased a JVC
SX980 which died on me. As such I am back in the market. Back then
Sony was not very reliable and there were a lot of skipping issues.
This unit has xm ready features and a bunch of others. The only thing
it lacks is the ability to play wma (which I dont use. I use mp3)
Has Sony cleared up their issues?? Is this a good...

Car Amplifier- please Help!!! by
rainy
Whilst removing an old factory fitted (Camry 91) tape deck, I accidentally
let one of the wires (+ charge) touch the metal bit causing the old deck to
fry. As the old system was connected to an amplifier (model Range TX-2000
which has NO info whatsoever on the web) ... well anyway heres what
happended:
- I saw smoke coming from the old tape deck (obviously fried).
- When I installed the new CD...

Vauxhall Radio Code by
dave
Hi,
My first post to this n.g.
My old car (rover) is in the garage and it seems to be taking forever - just
another week or two sir! Anyway I've been given a H reg Cavalier to use
while it's being fixed. There's a digital radio/cassette in it but when I
switch it on the display says -C- which I guess means enter the code.
The service pack has no radio code with it and on the long...

Blaupunkt TravelPilot DX-R52 GPS Time! by
Stephen Reed
Hi,
I have a Blaupunkt TravelPilot DX-R52 A navigation system / CD receiver and
I am very pleased with it. But when setting the time you can only adjust the
hour and the minuets are adjusted automatically by the GPS signal, no
problem but it is about 43seconds behind the rugby/ TIM time signal.. Who is
out?
Thanks

Stereo in new mini by
Dr Zoidberg
A friend has been quoted close to 300 quid to add a cd changer to the tape
HU in her new mini.
Given that you can get a nice kenwood HU with changer for just over 200 I've
suggested that as a better option.
Are there any nasty surprises lurking in store for me if I do end up fitting
one?
Do they have standard ISO connectors?

Fitting advice needed by
MC_Emily
Hi all
I've just bought a Shark L41AW CD player for my car but I'm not sure on
fitting it. Is it something I can do myself, even though I have no
experience on this, or should I get someone else to do it - if so, who? At
the moment, there's a radio/cassette in there but it's not connected to the
ignition. Do I need to disconnect the battery first? Also, there are only
2 speakers (both in the...

FS: Kenwood 7090R CD Player by
Benje
Ok I've decided to sell my headunit as I'm going back to uni!
Anyway, its fully boxed, all manuals, cage, iso adaptor, remote, mask key,
face plate cover, removal tools basically how it was when it came out of the
factory!
All working perfectly, it had the ribbon cable replaced 6 months ago so all
is spot on!
I'm open to offers on this, and will get some photos if anyone is

need advice on purchasing a very small 4 channel low power amp. by
MeatballTurbo
I'm planning on putting together another car PC now that I have the
Celica that has a double din slot.
The plan is to do away with the factory headunit altogether and build
the PC into a double din box behind the screen which will be permanently
mounted into the lower console like a factory navigation system.
Obviously the audio will be at line level rather than amped by an
headunit, so I...

Equivalent amplifier to M-8080A by
Glenn Richards
Until last week, I had a rather lovely Megavox M-8080a 800W amplifier (I
suspect that was the peak output figure rather than RMS, but still...)
Unfortunately I had a slight "incident" which resulted in my Audi A3
getting written off and me spending a few nights in the local hospital!
:-( Perhaps fortunately I don't remember any of this, all I remember is
driving away from my g/f's house and...

Astra Phillips Compatible CD Changer by
Topper
Hi
I have just bought an Astra and it has a Phillips Car400 stereo in it with
Steering Wheel Controls and was just wondering how I stood with putting my
old JVC KD-S673R CD head unit in? Would I lose the steering wheel controls?
I'm quite good with car stereos but have no experience with this as of yet.
Are only certain units compatible with the SWCs if so what do I look for on
the stereo I...

E-mail spamming from u.r.a.c posts? by
John Greystrong
I recently (a couple of months ago) posted my general thoughts
on the Sony CDX-MP40 mp3 player. I've just received a mail from
somebody @adbglobal.com asking for my opinion on said device.
Now it may be completely innocent but given the MP40 is an old
model and the email address looks a bit suss does anybody else
share my concern? Or indeed has anybody else been asked a similar
question?

Berlingo Multispace CD Changer? by
bob_builder
I have a Citroen Berlingo Multispace 1.6 Forte with a radio-cassette
player. I am interested in having a CD changer (or maybe even MP3
changer) fitted.
I have searched Google Groups and have discovered that I have
relatively few options, I believe. Due to the radio being multiplexed
and connected to a separate display the only official route is to pay
for the dealer to fit the standard CD...

Equalizers-are they necessary? by
Craig James
With all of the new features/programs with the surround sound/audio
systems these days, do you feel like an equalizer is necessary anymore
for DVD/Stereo/CD systems? Or are they just another 'toy' that is pretty
much obsolete these days?
Thanks for any help/input.
