WANTED: Sinclair audio instructions & pics by
Chris Owen
I'm currently updating Planet Sinclair
(http://www.nvg.ntnu.no/sinclair) with a lot more information about
the old Sinclair audio products of the 1960s and 1970s - including a
collection of 20 years' worth of Sinclair adverts. What I'm still
lacking, though, is instructions for Sinclair amplifiers, hi-fi
systems, radios etc. and (to a lesser extent) good quality images of
said products. So if any...

When you can't resist a thing.... by
David Houpt
Hi
I am not sure what is happening here.
I bought a KT7500 Trio tuner on Ebay and there are now (much to my
partner's and childrens' incomprehension) three tuners in the
household. Two Denons - 260 and 660 respectively - in addition to the
above.
I hope this isn't an ailment that spreads to the purchase of extra

Lubrication for a Garrard 401 by
John Settle
Could anyone please advise as to the correct type of oil to use for the
general maintenance of a Garrard 401. Advice on the electronic highway
ranges from Castrol motor oil to 3 in 1 !!!!!!!. There must be a
commercially available lubricant that closely approximates the viscosity and
quality of the original as advised by Garrard - but what is it ?.
Regards
John

Information on Dynatron SS Receivers? by
Japhy_Ryder
Greetings:
Anyone have any experience with any of the older solid state receivers
made by Dynatron Radio Ltd? I can't find any information on any of
their receivers (or the company for that matter) on the internet.
Thanks.

Headphones for home hifi (not portable) by
Tim S Kemp
Anyone got any thoughts on this... One way or another I
can't possibly go back to the HD480s since hearing the
definition of the instruments on NJ's CD ... !
Run them in, leave a CD on repeat at listening volume while you go to work.
After a week they will sound smoother.

RF Speakers by
Strider
Hi there everyone,
I'm looking for some good advice on RF speakers. At the minute I have a
PC room at home but I'm also looking to play my PC mp3's in my living
room too.
As I understand it I'll need the speakers (obviously) but I'll need a
switch to change between the 5.1 surround sound I have in the PC room to
the RF speakers. Where would be a good place to get one of those?

Arcam AVR200 and P75+ gain does not match ? by
Laurent Vitalis
Hi,
Last year, i bought an AVR200, a CD62 and a pair of B&W602s3.
I am very very happy with the trio.
Some days ago, i bought a P75+ to bi-amp my speakers.
In every article i read about bi-amping, the most important thing is
gain matching. The two amps must have the same gain.
Since Arcam claims that all their amps have the same gain, i tought it
was safe to go with an Arcam power amp.

80 min CDRs in an Arcam Alpha 8SE by
Simon Long
Hi All,
Wondered if anyone else has had this problem. Last night I installed a
new CD-RW drive in my home PC (made by LiteOn), and burnt a couple of
discs just to check it worked.
I was using TDK 80-min audio CDRs, and the resulting discs played very
grudgingly in my Arcam Alpha 8SE CD player - it took a good 10-15
seconds to read the TOC, and 5 or 6 seconds to find a track. I thought
this...

Castle Pembroke floorstanders by
Matt
I'm looking for some new floorstanders in this price range and these are
well reviewed, they look good and aren't too fussy about positioning (if all
i've read is to be believed!)
Does anyone have these or has heard them, if so what do you think?

Sony atrac walkman incompatible with t-shirt. ;) by
Lee J. Moore
Well, considering people are likely to wear these things to the
gym, it seems odd to me. ;) I just bought a Sony Atrac CD
Walkman (D-NE1), and I love it, but I can't figure out a way of
wiring myself up *comfortably* when wearing a t-shirt. ATM,
I've got the player in my pocket (preferred) and the remote
control clipped to my t-shirt sleeve (awkward). If the
earphone's cable was longer, I...

Where Do You Buy Your Classical CDs? by

I've looked around for various classical CD suppliers, and have been using
Amazon. Does anyone have recommendations for suppliers who are cheap and
reliable? Thanks in advance to anyone who has the time to answer.

The basic design would be the usual tiered shelving unit. I would use it to

Therefore (and assuming that your other bits don't contain any

Design a better analogue system by
RobH
Given that technology has move on a bit since the record player (and the
CD player!) were developed, would it be possible to product a domestic
_analogue_ audio system which is better quality than those which
currently exist?
This imagined system, at the very least, must have:-
* flat response (none of this RIAA curve stuff)
* better dynamic range (at least 20 dB higher than vinyl)
* ...

decent repairer, preferably in Bristol...)
