What amplifier? by
Tristan Gooey
Hi,
I recently bought a pair of Tannoy Mercury M2's and have just borrowed an
ordinary Marantz PM-583.
I borrowed the Marantz because the shop was waiting on a series of amps to
come in.
So meanwhile, I have been waiting for about one and half months and have
been rethinking my decision about waiting on this new amp.
The amplifier is an Amber 60C (a brand which I have never heard of, no
reviews,...

ATC Active 10 by
Anthony Edwards
I had a demonstration of the ATC Active 10s today. I was very
impressed, particularly with their natural sound, superb imaging and
seemingly unlimited headroom. The new SCM 20-2 actives are similarly
tempting, but a little out of my price range and I also have a feeling
that the 10s may be more suitable for my room.
I shall partner them with the CA2 pre-amplifier if I decide to go ahead

Is solder bad for music? by
RobH
I've just got a Precious Metals CopperTech Alpha interconnect and
amongst the many "interesting" claims in the brochure was the
following:-
"It is a one piece, solder free design which produces a join that
maintains constant impedance. If it is used for 75 Ohm connections, such
as digital or composite video, then that is what you get: 75 Ohm tip to
tip. That cannot be said of soldered designs....

Who will fit a system? by
Simon Brett
I am looking to ripout the walls of the lounge and wire the whole thing up
for inset speakers and a plasma screen etc etc
I assume there are some decent UK based audio/vision people who will come
and do this for me as well as sell me the kit.
Any recommendations?
many thanks

Ditton 44s by
Benje
I'm trying to gauge whether there would be any interest in these speakers.
Need to get rid of them as they are taking up too much space. I was
considering putting them on ebay but I really need a ballpark figure as to
what there worth.
Dont have much info on them, but all I can say is currently they are run off
a 25Wrms amp and they are very loud and clear.
Thanks

CD or not CD....PROOF!! by
Derbydrummer
Last night I removed the CDM9 Pro transport from my CD Player and was amazed to
find that when I shook it, it sounded completely different from the CD
transport I took out of a cheap Aiwa.
It had a less plastic sound and I concuded it was because it was partly made of
metal.
Can anybody confirm that CD mechs do sound different or am I alone on this?
My 6 year old daughter could also hear the...

While they don't advertise the fact very widely, if you have a Plextor
drive then Plextools will allow you to extract from, or at least copy,
just about all copy protected audio CD's.
