Another sub-bass option by Wally
Rather than the idea I mooted recently about making compact tranmission lines using Kef B139s and driving them with a filtered signal to provide lift where the speakers roll off, I have another option - I have a total of four B139s, two in the existing speakers, and two bought as spares and/or drivers for the future bass units. Am I right in thinking that some sort of push-pull set up will give...

Advice: Linn Speaker Grille Material by M
I looking for enough material to recover my Linn Helix speaker grilles. The fabric is really thin (almost see through) and is black. Does anyone know where this may be bought. I could ring Linn but something tells me this could get very expensive. M

Amp for bass? by Wally
What characteristics should I look for in an amplifier to drive only the bass speakers? The intended bass set up is a pair of Kef B139 drivers in some sort of medium-sized transmission line enclosures. The top end will be B110/T27, driven by a Millennium 4-20 Maplin kit valve amp. I expect the size of the bass enclosures to be such that the roll-off starts somewhat above the resonant frequency...

Copy protected CD's not the worst threat to sound quality! by iddqdATworldonline.DenmarK
I fear that in a few years the majority of music will not be availble on physical media but instead be sold on-line in compressed form! The move has allready started with Apple's ITunes, TDC's solution here in Denmark and several others. For now they make deals with the record labels but soon the musicians will make their own deals with them, and the on-line shops in effect becoming new...

Recommend small speakers (DIY preferred) by Andy Evans
I need space so my nice Magneplaner SMGa's must go - by all means make an offer (upgraded crossover). In its place I need some high class small footprint speakers, i.e. less than a square foot. High is OK. Any ideas? I was considering some Jordan's in a transmission line. === Andy Evans === Visit our Website:- http://www.artsandmedia.com Audio, music and health pages and interesting links.

Yamaha DSP A5 Amp. Remote Fault by CJ
Hi, I have a Yamaha DSPA5 Surround amp with a RAV211 remote control. Suddenly several of the buttons on the remote have stopped working. eg. Play,Test,1,9,0,Rewind. The remote is about 2 1/2 years old and hasn't had a lot of use. The fault was sudden. I have changed the batteries. Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a simple fix. I have e-mailed Yamaha who were very helpful and said...

Cambridge Audio remotes by Geoff Soper
I'm looking at buying either a Cambridge Audio M1 or M700 from Richer Sounds. Can anyone recommend one over the other? Are there any others I should be looking at for around the same price? Anything else I should know? Many thanks! Geoff -- Remove nospam in email address to reply

need help remebering name by malcolm
hello folks many years ago when in Dorset (early 90s), I hired a CD from the local Library, it was by a modern German composer , Peter 'somebody' maybe, anyway it was a mostly electronic version of Vivaldi's Four Seasons it was very trance like in compostion and had cricket sounds in the summer bit. I tried to find it via Google but too many Vivaldi hits to try in this lifetime. if anybody...
