Arcam P/Amp Thermal Cut out by Deep C
Can anyone help with a spot of advice? I'm in the process of buying a 2nd hand Arcam Alpha 10P. The, extremely honest, seller called me the other day to say he'd come across a problem with it whilst demo'ing the 10 integrated he's also selling. He said that the buyer wanted him to turn it past 50%, and when he did so, the 10P switched itself into standby. The unit had just been started, so...

Aiwa remote control advice please by John Fryatt
Hi, I guees it's not what people usually discuss here, but... I have a little Aiwa micro system which I picked up 2nd-hand to use in my darkroom. Now I've moved and I'm not having a darkroom anymore I want to re-use it somewhere else. Thing is, it never came with a remote. Not a major issue, but I'd like to get one. A specialist dealer who purports to advise on remotes apparently doesn't have...

Hi Fi Choice June 2003 by RobH
"Russ Reid" wrote in message ... Has anyone got a copy of Hi Fi Choice, June 2003 to sell me? Or could someone photocopy or scan the article on digital radio for me? This would be much appreciated. Sure. Do you want a specific article or the whole thing (about 14 pages) including tuner reviews?

How much have Amps improved much in the last 13 years? by Laurence Payne
I have a 13 year old Pioneer amplifier (part of a hifi, not seperate - model no. DCZ94) and just recently the tape deck (which I never use) has started making a high pitched noise now and again. This could be a good excuse for me to upgrade to a new stereo amp (however I can just about live with this noise...) For many years the centrepiece of my system was a Pioneer amp with every in/out...

Which cable to make DVD-Receiver Digital Coaxial lead. by Frank and Stein
Alternativly something like RG59 could be used (which I currently use for networking - sure there is roll somewhere in the shed!), this is 1/0·65mm, Attenuation per 10m 1·3dB at 100MHz, or 4·6dB at 1000MHz?/ RG59 is indeed ideal but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't use it for PC networking... I thought it was RG58 (50 Ohm) stuff in networks...

Has Pink Triangle died? by Andy Evans
I managed to use a Michel belt for a non-Michel turntable. You could ask helpful companies like them how long their belts are just in case. === Andy Evans === Visit our Website:- http://www.artsandmedia.com Audio, music and health pages and interesting links.

FS: ATC Concept 4 subwoofer by Jim H
Duncan L. Armstrong in uk.rec.audio: BEAST of a subwoofer, from personal experience somewhat better suited to music than movies - incredibly accurate, tight, controlled, and dynamic - though in a small- to medium-sized room it will kick serious ass for movies too. surely "room" should read "cinema" or "festival" :- --

Roksan Kandy III qs by RJH
Hi - bought one of these last week. Generally marvellous but (!): I find the phono stage noticeably 'compressed' compared to an Audiolab 8000c and MF XLPS - no treble sparkle, and bass 'mushy'. I'm using the MF and generally I'm happy with it, perhaps a bit 'peaky'. The remote takes a few stabs to work (minor issue). Can anyone comment on this - I notice a couple of people on this ng...

Sony TV stereo / mono fluctuation problems by Simon
Hello I am having sound problems with my Sony TV (model KV-X2582U). Admittedly it's about 8 years old now but the problem has only occurred relatively recently. In stereo mode, the sound keeps flicking between stereo and mono, and while I can change it to mono in the sound adjustment menu, if I change channels or switch the TV off, it goes back to stereo mode. The problem occurs regardless of...

Speaker advice please by Richard
Hi, I've just moved house and for a number of reasons need to get new speakers for my sound system. System was Marantz 63 MK2 KIS CD player, Arcam Alpha 9 amp and bi-wired Acoustic Energy AE109s in a room approx 22m. The floorstanders have to go as the new house doesn't lend itself well to them, and I have 2 kids under the age of 2 so they aren't practical anyway. The new room is 35m, the...
