opinions: Sony CDX-GT300S by
Taylor
Hey,
Noticed this 'revised' ipod compatible model is getting quite cheap on the
net (around ~£105 uk pounds); anybody had any experience of them thus far?
As far as I can tell, unlike some other units it does not control the ipod
directly from the head unit, but uses an adapter (included) from
connects2.com in the box that can allow the ipod to be recognised as a
cd-changer.

Is there just a Tuner/Amp head unit with line-in? by
robobass
If it's simple and practical then they probably don't make it. Anyway,
I don't want a CD or cassette transport. I want to plug in my mp3
player via a mini-plug when I'm not listening to the radio. I also want
something that isn't a target to thieves. This doesn't seem do be the
direction the industry is going, but I thought somebody here might know
of something.

Grounding Points by
Nick Malyon
Hey Guys,
Anyone know where the grounding points are on a Rover Metro Rio 1.1, or
at least, where I might start looking?
There's a screw through the spare to the chassis, it's tempting but I
wouldn't like to rub away the paintwork there as it's open to the
elements one side...
Many thanks!

Still waiting for my 2006 Golf by
jslevin
I'm still waiting to take delivery of my 2006 WV Golf and I intend to
replace the standard head unit as quickly as possible. I currently have a
2004 Golf and the standard radio/CD player is pretty poor.
Has anyone replaced their standard head with a Pioneer, Alpine, Becker etc.
and if so, what do folks recommend?
The choices are bewildering. I basically want a radio/cd with excellent
sound...

Alan
Hi All
I was wondering if anyone could help me with my problem, it's driving
me mad now!
I have a 1995 (M) Ford Mondeo 2.0, Auto Ghia.
The car is excellent apart from this one problem.....
It has an RDS2007 Ford radio/Cassette fitted, which I'm happy with, as

USB and SD CD head units by
Huw
I would like a new head unit because my Toyota Land Cruiser factory CD
changer had packed up. Unless someone knows an easy and cheap fix for it
then a head unit as described would do it for me. It has to have a mute lead
because a Parrot bluetooth phone unit is to be installed at the same time.
Any tips or views or experience welcome.
As far as I can make out there are a choice of...

Peugeot 607 RT2 Ipod interface by
Mark R Penn
I posted this on rec.audio, car by mistake - I meant it to go to this UK
group. Apologies if anyone sees both posts.
I have a 2002 Peugeot 607 with the RT2 stereo - the Clarion one with the
phone built in. I want to hook my ipod up to the stereo, but can't find an
interface anywhere. There are a couple available for the RC2 (no phone), but
none for the RT2. Other than the FM types (which I'm...

Bremen MP74 microphone placement by
Paul Massey
At the moment I'm installing the calibration microphone, but am having
problems deciding where to put it. I've got a 306 which doesn't have a
flat top to the dash which I imagine is the ideal place.
Has any one else had this problem and found a decent place for it, or
has any good ideas where to place the mic?
Cheers,
Paul.

Head-unit for Omnifi. by
Colin Stamp
Hi all,
I'm *still* wibbling around thinking about how to get my MP3
collection into my car. I'm off MP3 DVD players now, and I've
pretty-much decided to get an Omnifi DMP1 since it seems to be a dying
product now, and they're getting really cheap.
All I have to do now is decide on a head-unit to use with it. The
budget is around 200-250 quid and I'll be fitting it myself. I'm not
after the...

Hmmmm - I'm puzzled and need some advice, please by
Angus Gilmour
I drive a VW Passatt, owned from new (1999) with original equipment. The
car has not been used for the last month as we have another car and I have
been convalescing . Today, I resume motoring and find that the car radio no
longer picks up AM broadcasts and those for FM are weak and intermittent.
The cassette player works fine - just the tuner not picking up signal. Do
aerials go wrong? ...

Line out or speaker feed? by
David Haggas
I am new to the group and am asking a question regarding the fitting of a
Kenwood subwoofer to my 2000 model Range Rover. I assumed the fitter would
use the line out from the factory fitted (Alpine) unit but he used the "rear
speaker feed". He insists the speaker feed is just as good. Is there any
difference between using the line out or a speaker signal? Please would
someone explain the...

Renault Espace Radio by
[email protected]
I'm trying to find a way of wiring my ipod directly into my Renault
Espace radio which is a factory fitted pioneer.
I have found the head unit, under the drivers seat, and it has a spare
input - where a factory fitted cassette player would fit.
The input is a round multipin plug. I have not had much luck sourcing
one of these plugs, and haven't even started to think about the wiring.
Has...

Worrying trend? by
Glenn Richards
Have noticed something a little worrying recently...
A number of manufacturers are starting to totally integrate the audio
system into the car, eg Audi with the A6 and A8 (with their MMI system),
BMW with the i-Drive, and apparently Peugeot are jumping on this
particular bandwagon as well.
This would all be fine if manufacturers would fit decent kit to the car
in the first place. But...

Audi A3 Replscement Aerial Base by
lucozadenrg
Hi,
The aerial on my 2002 A3 has gone open circuit. I think it is
amplified (electronics in the base). I have not gone the whole hog and
removed the unit yet but there appears to be only one wire into the
base unit (revealed under the courtesy light panel) which is not co-ax
but a very thin single core with glossy coating.
Is the aerial amplified?
Should I look further for the missing co-ax (it...
