Surround sound in cars? by
RichardK
I've got a 1992 Toyota Sera with the factory SLSS system (Super Live
Surround Sound). This wasn't true surround, but a DSP system with 10
speakers - Front cone x 2 (10cm, IIRC), Front Tweeter x 2, Centre
Speaker (10cm again, I think), rear cones and tweeters in a tube on the
parcel shelf which could be rotated to reflect off the rear window or
aim directly into the car, and a rear subwoofer...

Pioneer KEH-8080B by
ntvman
I have an old Pioneer KEH-8080B radio cassette that I am trying to fit
to my motorcycle.
The problem is the wiring to the speakers.
I have connected all the power OK but have only got green, green with
black tracer, grey, grey with black tracer to connect to four speakers.
I believe the grey is the front left and green is the front right.
Where do I connect the other terminal on the speaker?

Blaupunkt CAR 300 - Cant get rid of SAFE message by
[email protected]
I purchased used Panasonic CQ-C1110AN from eBay, which was replacement
for my old Blaupunkt CAR 300 (Astra). The Panasonic unit was
functioning great while outside of car's panel. However, once I
installed it, it just stopped working. Even thought wires were
insulated and not touching I concluded that I must have done something
wrong to burn the unit.
Hence, in despair I installed back my...

A few Sony head unit questions - Newbie.... by
Jon
Hi all,
I have a couple more questions about my Sony MDX-7900R (mini-disc
unit)...
1. On the back there is two phono sockets (Left & Right) labelled as
"BUS AUDIO IN". The installation diagram shows these going to a CD /
MD changer. However, I dont have a changer but I do have an iPOD...
Could I plug my iPOD directly into the "BUS AUDIO IN" and then somehow
select "CD changer" on the head...

ipod in my car-- craddle to connect it to VW HU by
Jerome
Hi,
I got to use a friend's iPod last weekend and suddenly realise it's
what I need. I travel a lot in my car and abroad, it would be ideal to
carry my music. I am still ensure what to get for my requirement
1- I would like to find some skin/cases to protect it, and a
craddle/holder that are compatible so that I do not have to take the
ipod outside of its case everytime I want to copy music...

Headunit choice time. Nakamichi CD400 or Pioneer DH77MP by
Sleeker GT Phwoar
Yes, the Pioneer has MP3, but Naks have good sound quality.
But Naks have reliability issues, but Pioneers need an additional box to
enable AUX in, while it is straight standard on the Nakamichi.
Also Pioneer is ISO, while the NAK would need wiring.
It is going into a Saab 900 convertable of 1992 vintage, so a classic
car shape, if not yet actually classic (the design was fist used in the...

wiring an amp by
Chris
I have a Kenwood KFCW-300S Sub that I am connecting to a SPLX SPLA350 Amp
using an Autoleads PC4-20 wiring kit.
The wiring kit comes with a 15, 20 and 30 Amp Fuse, should I use the 30, 20
or 10 Amp fuse for the amp live from the car battery?

silly CD changer question by
Iain Robinson
I think I know the answer to this question (having looked the the
groups' archive) but I won't be able to sleep at night if I don't ask.
We have an old Sony CDX-51 10 CD Changer in our 1999 Golf, run by a Sony
XR-CA400 HU. After a year or so it stopped reading CD-Rs that I had
written, despite using lots of different types of disks (and 2 different
CD writers). It played bought CDs okay but...

Line driver? by
Glenn Richards
Got a Sony MEX-1HD in a 2003 Audi A4 Quattro...
I'm running the front channels plus sub from a Sony XM-4060 amplifier.
Rears are running off the Audi active speaker system. However, the gain
of the rear amplifier is quite a bit lower than the "standard" gain,
whatever that happens to be. (I normally set the gain so the level is
the same as using the head unit's onboard amp.)
Now I've seen...

Alpine 9855r query by

Hi,
I have just got one of these head units and am very pleased with it. I
am a little confused about something though.
Can anyone else who has one also confirm how you chose between 'user'
and 'factory set' EQ settings ?
When I press menu and go to 'easy menu' and select 'factory's EQ',
sometimes I get the factory installed ones ( rock, pop, jazz etc ) if I

Pioneer External Units by
Simon Says
I have a DEH-P4300R with CPX-P670 changer. According to the manual, the 4300
can only control 1 external unit at a time. I also have the CD-RB20 and
CD-VC60 connected through the bus connector with no problem. However, I
wouldn't mind having the ipod interface connected as well. I've been told
that with having the CD changer, it is not recommended having the ipod
interface because the head...
