Old geezers non collectors replacin ancient vinyl by
Phil
Lke many over 55 yr olds I have lots of rare virtually unplayed vinyl.
What the Net need is
A Place where I can see if my ancient vinyl exists on cd
A place where I can price up my vinyl
A place where I can buy a cd of an ancient vinyl (I'm not a
collector, but a music lover)
A place where I can then place a free ad to sell that ancient vinyl.

In defense of Michael Jackson by
Arny Krueger
I'm dicgusted by the way this guy is persecuted. There is no proof
that he's done anything with these boys except shared his bed with
them. As he points out it is the most loving thin g a man can do -
share his bed with a boy. I do it all the time too with my
neighborhood boys, nephews and sometimes with my own daughter dressed
as a boy since my own boy died a few years ago. I tell you a girl...

Anyone suggest a UK group for selling hifi kit? by
Callas
As subject.
I've got Martin Logan Ascents, Monarchy SE-100 delux monoblocs and Van
den Hull cabling to sell. I've posted to rec.audio.marketplace, but it
is heavily dominated by US sellers - I rather suspect there won't be
many UK buyers reading.

Is this really true? by
Fleetie
An address like that shews that your views are worthless.
Why do some people mis-spell "shows" as "shews" and "shown" as "shewn"?
I've seen this many more times than I would expect, since it seems a very
unlikely mis-spelling to me.
I even saw it on a QUAD valve amplifier circuit diagram from the official
manual. (Decades old, of course.)

Cordless speakers by
WasTa
I am interested in cordless speakers.
I would like to play MP3 files from my computer to my greenhouse, and also
be able to listen to digital radio via sky similarly.
Can anyone confirm this would be possible?
I am concerned that there doesn't seem to be a choice of speakers. Goodmans
are the only ones I've found, and I've been searching for around a year.

Jammed MD loader by
mutley
The loader on my JVC combo unit has jammed with an MD inside. I've been
having increasing trouble getting discs to load, with 'Disc Error' warnings,
now it's stuck and I can't get the disc to eject. Shows 'Disc Loading
Error'.
Can anyone help me get the disc out? There does not seem to be a manual
eject button or slot at the back.

WTB: JBL DX-1 Input/Output Crossover Cards to suit JBL's XPL-200 Speakers by
Itchy'n'Scratchie
After 2 sets of Input/Ouput Cards for JBL's external active DX-1 Low level
network crossover.
The cards and the DX-1 were made for JBL's XPL-200 speakers.
I will accept blank or variants of the input/output cards in one or two
sets.
I you have cards you don't want to get rid of, any photos of the low and
high frequency cards would be much appreciated.

Zapper competition by
Keith G
OK, all this talk about 'remote controls' (known as 'zappers' in this
household) has me wondering who has got the greatest number of them on the
go. I have none at all, but Swim has got 5 (and 1 spare - VCR no longer in
use) and my son has no less than 15 on the go apparently!
Any advance?

Listening comparison 2 by
Keith G
OK, thanks to all who responded to my first 'Listening Comparison' test. My
initial purposes have already been very well served, but there is one other
issue I would appreciate 'outside' opinions on. Here are two more sets of
'near identical' tracks - sorry about the mismatched sound levels, it's not
within my capabilities to do this perfectly atm ! (This is kitchen table
stuff, not some sodding...

Which only goes to show how overly sensitive political correctness can
ruin the emotional freedoms in families.
Yes, I agree with you. And many families simply have to sleep in the same bed
as children because of space, or friends sleeping over. Nevertheless, it is
actually grounds for a social visit.

Playing CDs on a DVD player by
KotF
I recently bought a Daewoo 9000S5 DVD player - had some good reviews and was
cheap! Two days later my Phillips CD player (bought in 1987) died - so I
tried to hook up the DVD in its place. (Simple L/R Stereo out to the amp).
The sound quality is awful! I've played around with the menus - setting
SPDIF (?) to off or PCM (?) improves things but it still sounds bad.
It sounds like the signal to the...

GamuT Power Amp MOSFETs? by
Scott Dorsey
DaveC wrote:
Are there other "single high-power MOSFET" power amp designs on the market?
Single ended MOSFET stuff? Sure, lots of them. Bear Labs makes one, and
I think Nelson Pass basically popularized the idea and still makes a bunch
of them.
