Wireless connection between dvd & audio system? by
Tom Bennett
I'm looking for a technical fix to a problem I've got and I'm hoping
someone can point me in the right direction.
I need to connect the audio output of my DVD player to my Sony HiFi, but
they're at opposite ends of the room (about 15m cable run), with 3
doorways in between. To make matters worse, I recently had a new carpet
professionally fitted and I don't want to start peeling it back to...

Source of legitimate interconnects (& weld/solder) by
James Harris
Someone has offered me interconnects which apparently use the
standard cable of a certain manufacturer but the terminations
are soldered on rather than welded. The price is significantly
less than that for normal product cables. Can anyone comment on
whether these are likely to be legitimate and sold with the
approval of the manufacturer.
- As an aside, any comments on soldered vs. welded?
TIA,

Your Music On CD by

Thanks to all those who offerred me tips on how to make the process of
copying some vinyl LPs onto CD easier using my PC. I have had another
go using some of the software which was suggested and they have helped
make the process a little easier but with Christmas fast approaching I
think I'm going to use one of these online places which offer to do it

A/V Transmission by
BWGames
After the electrians came in and put the wiring in, I had a look. They've
done two of them phono to phono with some very cheap looking stereo cabling
:( The other (supposedly for video) is proper 75Ohm stuff ended in short
lengths of the cheap stuff to the phono connectors.... I was hoping to put
digital along one... Would video transmission be ok along this cheap stuff,
using the 75Ohm for the...

Sony HAR-LH500 and XP by
Craig
Has anyone got the version of M-Crew that comes with the HAR-LH500 (V2.6E)
to work on XP? Mine works ok on a W98 laptop but on the XP machine it causes
a reboot just after the title bar appears, just as the reading starts I
guess.
TIA

Wharfedale SFB/3 loudspeakers by
pix&sounds
Along with some other vintage equipment, I have acquired a pair of these
'speakers and wonder if anyone can tell me something about them. All I know
is that they are of 1956 vintage.
I haven't really the space at home for them as they're very big and heavy so
I wondered if they are of interest to vintage audio collectors. If anyone
can point me in the right direction, websites, societies etc....

Mini/Micro HiFi recommendation needed please.. by
Sorby
Hi - can anyone help me please?
I need a mini/micro HiFi (preferably CD & Tuner only) that meets the
following requirements...
Excellent sound quality (well, as good as it can be within the obvious
limitations of a mini/micro trannie system)
Nice & loud! (I'm looking for a high RMS value rather than peak-power,
right?)
Front-loading CD (the system will live in a purpose-built cubby-hole in a

Copying LPs onto CDs by
Andy Jacob
I saw the posts recently about copying LPs to CD and figured that
would be a good christmas present for someone I know so thought I'd
have a go. But it's not working out to be the simple job I imagined.
I got my hifi connected to my PC ok. Downloaded a program called AIPL
Singulator to split the audio into separate tracks. Clean my LP, start
the program, play the record - thought that would be...

Best type of aerial for a radio? by
MC_Emily
Hi everyone
I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem and I'm sure the solution
is very simple :o)
Because of the bad weather (!) my horses are spending a lot of their time
inside, so I've got the radio on for them for a bit of 'human' company.
However, the aerial is broken and only has a stubby bit left on, you know,
the bit with the other bit that turns it round. So, at the moment...

Amp & Speakers for bedroom by
Stuart
I need a pair of small speakers, (and amp) for my bedroom. Whats
important is that they sound good at low volumes, and small enough to
sit on the bedside table(s). Amplified speakers would be most
practical, or a micro-amplifier.
Any recommendations?
Stuart.

Philips MC-i250 available in UK? by
Christiaan Keet
I've been looking for the Philips Streamium MC-i250 for some time
and while Philips themselves swear that it was released in the UK
in October, I can't find it anywhere.
Philips' latest response to me on the phone was "Er, yeah, well,
it's a fairly specialised unit, you may have problems finding it
in the UK." Helpful.
Does anybody have any suggestions where the best place to look for
it would...

Anyone with any experience of these? I'm looking at the Yamaha and Sony

can be taken out and upgraded to higher capacity ones. Any advice or

Jamie Cullum by
The Stainless Steel Boob Orchestra
Hi fans, note!
Go here, click 'Music', and click 'More' for album 'Twenty something'.
http://www.jamiecullum.com/JCFrameset.htm
Does anybody else have this album? I'd never heard of the guy until I
saw him on BBC Four. I was amazed by how natural and mature his voice
is given his years, and also by his ability to totally own the piano.
