Audio resampler quality by John Phillips
I am preparing to resample a lot of audio files from 48 kHz sample rate to 44.1 kHz. There are many freely available re-sampling utilities and I am trying to select the "best" one to use (I actually have at least six from which to choose). I have created a 48 kHz-sampled test file that sweeps a sine wave from 0.0 Hz to 23.999 kHz over 23.999 seconds. I am looking at the 44.1 kHz resampled...

For keith G - about the Buschhorns by Jem Raid
Dear Keith, I read your 'review' of the Buschhorns (see the bose acoustic wave post above) and the comparison with the Loth X's and was very surprised to read that the BH's performed, in many ways better than the Loth's. Do you think it's the single driver, because the horns sound more natural, or is the Buschhorn design having no financial constraints just simply better.

Ortofon MCA-10 free to a good home by Chris Isbell
I have an old Ortofon MCA-10 moving-coil cartridge preamplifier that is no longer required. This battery-powered unit allows a moving-coil cartridge to be connected to a moving-magnet phono input. It is possible that one channel is not functioning, but this should be straightforward to repair. Before throwing it away, it seemed a good idea to offer it here in the remote chance it might possibly...

Cambridge P50 ... by Arfa Daily
Hi all Has anyone out there got a set of schematics for a Cambridge P50, that I can beg a scan of please ? I'm particularly interested in the front end, prior to where tape play feeds back in. Failing this, is there anyone who worked on these a lot back in the 70's, who remembers any stock fault which gives low audio on both channels. I can 'scope good audio level to around the second...

Volume control at the speaker? by [email protected]
Simple answer. Purchase a speaker selector switch at any electronics outlet. The selector switch takes one pair of amplifier outputs and spilts out the output to 4 and up to 8 stereo pairs. (it takes care of the impedance problems).Home run the cable from each stereo pair of speakers in each room to an 8 ohm stereo wall attenuator in that room and then bring the cables back to the speaker...

Wireless audio distribution by Tim Martin

KEF Cresta 30, Gale 3040 or Tdl KV6? by MoJo
Evening all. I'm looking for some new floorstanders. I mostly listen to rock, ranging from early 70s stuff to modern Power Metal. I'm trying to decide between the KEF Cresta 30s, Gale 3040s and TDL KV6s. The KEFs are the only ones I can find reviews for, and I like what I read. Clear and precise, with descent, controlled bass. Most places do them for £160, but Richer Sounds has them for £120....

Recommend CD/MP3 'boombox' with decent radio? by jkn
Hello all We're looking for a domestic Radio/CD player which will also play MP3 CDs, for use in the kitchen to replace an old Sony radio/cassette. I'm looking for something reasonably small, with a 'digital' (PLL) tuner. The best thing I found in a bit of searching was the Hitachi CX80MP?? from Argos. It's a 'boombox' style, but is more compact than most (around 30cm wide) due partly to it...

denon d-m35 by Jen Ittels
Everybody may already aware, but Denon have finally brought out a newer, sparkly version of the DM31. It's got all the usual specs (being small, silver, 22w etc) but has the stunning additions of DAB radio and MP3 reading capabilities. It's not horrifically expensive either. I'm almost definately going to buy one, but just wanted to see if anyone has had a chance to listen to one before i take...

Volume control at the speaker? by Pooh Bear
DaveC wrote: In a distributed audio system in a residence, how can volume control in each room be accomplished. Seperate amplifiers in each room ( or alternatively so-called 'powered speakers' with inbuilt amplifiers ) is the only solution that preserves audio quality. I assume you don't want quality trade-offs which is all that any other approach can offer.
