Noobie recording fun and games! by Keith G
Got a dinky little mic from Glenn today, to have a go at recording Swim playing her piano. I haven't messed around with microphones since I were a little lad (and Pontious was a pilot) and I have to say it's been a hoot so far, tripping over spare kit and recording the resulting outburst, recording silence with the mic switched off and recording the neighbour's lawnmower (patio door open) kinda...

Small, wireless stereo mics? by [email protected]
I looked around google for a pair of small, wireless stereo microphones but didn't find anything. I'm hoping to get a set with mics roughly the size/shape of ear-bud headphones, or maybe a little larger. I found lots of hand-held mics and a few smaller ones, but nothing quite like what I need. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I am very pleased, its sounds fantastic, took it apart (pictures of insides on web site) not a lot inside. Would have liked, one of the tuners that are valved, but they are...

Copying tracks from CD to hard disk by Raymond RUSSELL
Hello all This is a question for computer rather than hi-fi enthusiasts. I want to copy individual tracks for safekeeping from audio CDs onto my hard disk, and then copy selected tracks from there onto my own CDs. What are the methods, formats, etc available The names MP3, WAV, AAC don't mean much to me.

Speaker cable extension reqd? by anon
I have just bought a sony mini system with ridiculously short cables. I need to lengthen the spaker cables. Apart from splitting the cable and putting the extension in is it worth me getting an extension with the correct end on it already? It is a one piece end with a figure eight piece of plastic which has one flat side so you can only plug it in one way. Any ideas where to get an extension...

LP12 - replacing tonearm cable? by Rob Fisher
I'm considering replacing the tonearm cable in my LP12 (Ittok LVII/Arkiv/Lingo/Microgroove+ phono stage) most likely with a Russ Andrews TAK-Cu. Anybody got any opinions? It seems like a sensible kind of upgrade, but I'm a little wary of Russ Andrews because he seems to sell a lot of - in my opinion - snake oil. (£900 mains cables, mains purifiers etc.) ta

Opinion / Valuation Sony ES3000 seperates by Bob Sherunckle
Hope I'm not asking this question in the wrong place. I have been offered a set of Sony components and was wondering if anyone here might be able to value them. The bits are 1) CDP-X3000ES - CD Player 2) MDS-J3000ES - Minidisc 3) ST-3000ES - Tuner 4) TA-F3000ES - integrated amp
