Pioneer Turntable Mains Question by Cassidy
Hi anyone who's reading, I've got a Pioneer turntable with an AC input plug that's designed to be plugged into the back of the amp. Unfortunately my Pioneer amp doesn't have a corresponding mains out socket. Is there any way I can get an adapter to plug the turntable into the mains? I don't suppose that a standard 'universal adapter' from Dixons wil do the trick? Thanks in advance,

SACD and channel outputs by Hawkey
Apologies if this is off topic -if so any recommended groups?? However...... I have a Denon 2200 player, and Yamaha ASP5 amp, mainly used for a projector home cinema system - and damn good it is too, generally. I have also got a few SACDs and DVD audio discs. Amongst the SACD collection is Mike Oldfield (tubular bells ...what else -:) and I get no output from either the sub, or the centre...

System warm-up by James Harris
Hi, My hi-fi sounds great sometimes and not others. I am told that it needs an hour's warm-up and this could fit with the times it has sounded good. For example, great one evening but poor the next morning. I leave the electronics on but not playing. Is there a CD that can be played to loosen the system up? I suspect the speakers most. Bass extension is particularly absent at times. Any...

Marantz CD6000 and CD-Rs - an appeal for suggestions by baseball bat
I've recently picked up a used Marantz CD6000 KI Signature and I find that it won't always play CD-Rs I've burned myself. It will occasionally not read past the TOC on a disc, or if it does, will not skip from one track to the next. Instead it throws up an error message and does nothing. But if left alone it will play straight through a disc without a problem. I've been using white-top...

Mordaunt Short Avant 908 vs Mordaunt Short 502 THX by Simon
Hi, Just wondering if the Avant 908 is just the 502 THX without built in subs? If so it seems a bit steep at £500 extra for the subs. Any other upgrade ideas for my crap Mission FS1AV's would be appreciated (£1000 to spend). Cheers Simon

Microphone assistance requested by Keith G
I know the SQRT of diddly-doo about microphones/recording but I want to get hold of a pair to try and record some piano playing straight into a little cassette recorder I have (with 2 x 1/4 inch jack sockets) or, failing that, straight to computer hard disk (at a distance of about 20') via the normal computer mic 3+mm stereo socket. So, here's a few questions: a) Firstly, does anybody have...

Kef T27 repair by Philip Meech
You can suck it back out with a vacuum cleaner hose placed evenly around it. Something with some power. It works for woofers, too. Bob Latham wrote: I just got a second hand pair of speakers off Ebay. They seem to work fine but the dome is pushed in on one of the T27s. Obvious question, anyone know of clever way to pull it out again?

Hi, I'm looking for a high quality preamp, but it must have remote control and tone controls. Would prefer valve but would consider tranny. Usual array of inputs with upto 750mv output. What would you recommend? New or s/hand or vintage. Thanks.
