Internet radio stations: best way to access? by salman_edinburgh
Hi I don;t have a PC permanently connected up at home - but was wondering if there exists a 'box of tricks' that would allow me to receive radio off the 'net? (There is a phone line near the hifi rack). The French station I want is not accessible through DAB and, being in Scotland, am would be a very weak signal. I am not interested in taping things to MP3 etc, file sharing or anything else of...

Eltax Symphony 6.3 by Radiohead
Maplins is not a hi-fi shop. This could be a guide. Well, yes that did cross my mind. I thought they might just be cheap because they are an old model, but of course they could just be crap!

downloading music by Raymond RUSSELL
Hello all My daughters have a seemingly instatiable appetite for pop music and I got weary recently of (them / me) buying maxi CDs which nearly always have four or five versions of the same song recorded on a different day, in a different colored shirt, or with the wind blowing in another direction. So, I've been trying iTunes (on a Win2k computer) for a couple of weeks which seemed a good,...

Dead technics CD player by Doki
My Technics SL-P277A has died. Whenever you put a CD in it fails to read it and acts as if there's no CD in it. Any one got any ideas? Ones involving repair rather than "Look on ebay for another ancient CD player" please :D.

Chatterbox Club (tapesponding) by Foxfield
I have just dug out some old ephemera from the back of my late Father's shed including addresses of Chatterbox Club members from c.1968 to 1971. Are there any past members of similar clyubs still around? Andrew Fielding

Gaincard / gainclone amps.. by Dave xxxxx
Paul Dormer wrote: For the uninitiated, the Gaincard is a simplistic amplifier produced by 47 Laboratory, which at it's heart uses apparently mundane National Semiconductor's IC opamps. The DIY fraternaty reverse engineered the Gaincard and now *hundreds* of people worldwide are building Gaincard clones or modifications thereof, referred to as Gainclones. I have now read a few...

The Art of Bose Bashing and Amar's Supposed Descent into Mediocrity by Nath
snip long BS. Do you really think anyone got past your first couple of paragraphs? oh yeah I have heard a Bose system going, to say it was mushy was a understatement. The midrange module was parping & distorting like crazy, and this was within normal levels and a medium sized room. I believe the demo system had THREE midrange modules. God knows how one sounds. I would pay about £100-£200...

So Peter Sammon has crept out of the woodwork again! Does he really exist or is he a product of the Bose marketing department? It is always a pleasure to visit a Bose shop and evaluate the demo equipment.

probably a stupid question about MP3 conversion . . . by New Geoff
Hi all. Now, I know some of you will fall about laughing at this question, but here goes . . . I just bought one of these little MP3 players, but on getting home and looking at the enclosed instructions, and then doing a search on the web, I'm still not clear on how to get tracks onto it in MP3 format - unless I have to re-record everything in that format first. It has a USB and line-in, so I'm...
