Dynaudio 42 and Quad 99 power by
Keiron
I'm trying to put together a system on bargains I can pick up from on
line dealers, Ebay etc. OK I know it's not the right way to go about
things, but that's how I'm doing it...
I have an odd system. All my CDs are now stored as uncompressed files
on my PC. As a DAC/preamp, I'm using a quite old Sony ES processor.
This will constitute my front end.(Through my Stax earspeakers, the
sound is...

Language is a virus..... by
Keith G
Just a test post to inform those here, to whom I owe a reply email, that as
of 'boot-up' this morning I have got a sodding virus (W32.Protoride.Worm).
It's going to take a bit of faffing around to clear - so it won't get done
for a while* (I'm up to my eyeballs atm!).
I believe it was only activated this morning so I shouldn't have passed it
on, but if I have 'spoken' to you lately you had...

Remote (radio) control but NOT of models by
speedy2
Does anyone here know anything about radio-controlling things OTHER than
models? This means knowledge of r/c itself, rather than just buying transmit
and receive black boxes from a model shop!
In particular, I'm looking to make a remotely controlled 4 channel audio
mixer, which will have the manual slider pots in the transmitter, remote
from the mixer itself, which will in turn NOT have sound...

Audiophiles should reflect by
Nick
Jealosy can be very ugly.
What sort of a **** comes on a hobbyists newsgroup like this and spouts such
garbage? You are a very sad little man.
I have a hobby - I spend my hard-earned money on it. So

FS: Martin Logan Ascents, Van den Hul cabling by
Callas
All pieces of kit are in *mint* condition and have had *no* problems.
I'm the only owner, I live alone with no pets and no children. They've
never even been moved :)
All of this kit was bought at the same time, May 2001.
First item are the speakers; Martin Logan Ascents. Black trim. List
price was 3900 UKP, I paid 3510 (10% off). I'm looking now for 2250.
Second item are the...

192kbps MP3s on a big sound system? by
Jase
Are 192kbps MP3s of a high enough quality that they can stand up to playing
on a monster club sound system? I've heard recommendations of a higher
bitrate but would 192 suffice?
TIA.

Anyone control a Rotel amp from a One for All 6 universal remote? by
James Harris
I have a One for All 6 URC-7562 which works on most devices but there is not a published
code for a Rotel amp. Is Rotel known by some other name on their lists? I can program
individual buttons to copy the Rotel remote so there is no basic reason why the URC should
not control the amp. There just seems to be no code for it to do so.
Appreciate any guidance on getting this working. The amp is an...
