Preamp low pass filter by
Wally
I have just acquired a slightly beat-up Cambridge A75 preamp (thanks Rob!).
Aside from some tidying up, this will form part of my intended system
upgrade to a bi-amped setup with a low-pass filter on the bass end. I'm
attracted to fitting a second stereo output stage and filter to the preamp -
that would let me try various amps for driving the bass speakers without
having to deal with...

Connect PC to car radio speakers by
news.skynet.be
Hello,
I have a sony car radio installed in my sailboat, which is connected to
audio speakers inside and in the cockpit. I now want to be able to connect
my computer to the same speakers, so I can play music from my PC and, even
more important, hear the alarm signals of my navigation software on the PC.
Both radio and computer are at the navigation table.
Since I am not a real technician, can...

Noisy platter Project Debut 2 Turntable by
Darren
Hi,
I have just bought a Project Debut 2 Turntable to transfer my LPs to
CD. However, I note on the silent passages on the recording I can
hear noise from the platter of the turntable as it turns. Is this
common, or do I have faulty turntable.
Thank you for any any advice you can give

Marantz CD-53: Squeaky CD Tray by
RK
Hi All...
When I open up the tray on my Marantz the CD tray appears to squeak. Most
annoying. If I physically hold onto it and slow the movement of the tray
down the squeak stops. The player functions perfectly apart from that.
Has anyone got any ideas how I can fix it? In a casual conversation with an
audio shop owner they thought it could be a capacitor thats connected to the
motor thats...

Buying stuff from abraod ... by
RJH
Just thought I'd share my internet shop from the States - an AT OC9 Mk2,
$310 inc, arrived in 5 days from http://www.lpgear.com/. Not all good - got
caught at customs who slapped VAT on, and the PO added another £15, so it
came to about £240 all in.
Still, not bad.

Quad 909 99 question? by
Dave xxxx
I found out today, if you open the Quad 909 power amp, it has jumpers that
can alter the gain to match the Quad 99 power amp.
So with jumpers moved, I have used them both to bi amp a set of B&W Natilus
804's see what it sounds like 909 powering the bass and the 99 the hf
NOW the 909 is 140 watts per channel and the 99 is 90 watts per channel.
Is then moving the jumpers cutting the output of...

Digital Radio by
Francis Xavier Holden
There was a two page piece on Digital Radio in the Melbourne AGE Green
Guide last week promising all sorts of wonders.
I did notice a distinct lack of comment about anything that looked
like quality content.
I seem to recall that Digital radio has been less than a runaway
success in UK.
Anyone got any comments or info from UK.

Cable issue by
Colin Green
My problem may seem rather strange, but here it is:-
I have had a number of Audioquest lapis interconnect cables which I have
used for a number of years and in various different systems. When I first
got each of the cables, over a period of about 2 years, they always sounded
quite wonderful for about 4 days or so - much deeper bass, no edginess and
everything sounded much more dynamic and...

Best UK hi-fi magazines by
James Harris
Hi,
Please could you suggest which hi-fi magazines are most useful to help short-list kit?
Opinions so far,
1) What Hi-Fi - ubiquitous, easy to read but a bit happy-chappie. Reviews all subjective.
2) Hi-Fi News. I haven't seen much of this but the Hot 100 section seems much too brief.
Refers to articles by author. Does that matter when looking for a consistent view?
I haven't had opportunity...

Looking for an MMC5 cartridge..... by
Derry & Sheena Barbour
I am seeking an MMC5 cartridge for my Bang & Olufsen Beocenter
2200 as I am led to believe that one of the coils in my present
cartridge is not functioning (I get Stereo from the Radio & CD
Player, but only the Right-hand speaker works when I try the
Record Deck).
If anybody knows where I can get one, I would be very grateful.

Wireless Headphne adapter? by
Ben
I currently have a fairly decent pair of headphone, and was wondering if I
could use these as cordless headphones, via an adapter box or such. Does a
product like this exist?
Cheers
