[newbie] Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro headphones by beeyp jars
I was about to purchase the Beyerdynamic DT990 PRO (http://www.veronica.co.uk/dt990.htm). But noticed its impedance is 250 ohms and my sound card's manual (Creative Live 5.1 Digital) says 32ohm for the OUT socket. Q: Will it sound very bad with a low volume and hence definitely require a headphone-amp?

Onkyo TX-SV343 by Mogweed
I live in the UK and I've just won an auction on ebay.co.uk for a TX-SV343 AV Amp/Receiver but it hasn't got a remote control with it (the guy lost it when he moved house). I need to get a new remote but Onkyo can only supply one if I can tell them the "RC" number of the remote control, ie, RC385S or whatever it may be. If anyone on any of these ng's has one of the above units, could you...

2-pin DIN Connectors by Peregrinvs
Hi, I am thinking of buying an old A&R A60 amplifier but it is an early model with 2-pin DIN speaker output sockets. The speaker cable I would use it with is Gale XL315: whilst getting hold of male 2-pin DIN plugs isn't difficult, I very much doubt they would be big enough to take cable of that thickness. Are there any 2-pin DIN plugs about that can take thick cable?

Wireless home system help by rudy carroll
Hi I want to set up a wireless home audio system something along the lines of... Main system (turntable/cd/tuner/digital) has fm transmitter that radio's scattered around house can tune into - the idea being that these radio's could also tune into regular radio. Am I completely bonkers? Is this possible? has anyone got any tips? One problem I have is that my amp - cambridge audio - has no...

Townshend "The Grail" cartridge by phil
Hi, I recently aquired this cartridge. It has had a rebuild from the "new" Garrot Bros/Tivoli/Luder. I have been told that it is a rebadged, tweaked version of another brand. Does anyone have any light to shed on this? Finally, does anyone have the original specs? I particularly would like to know VTF & loading.

Capturing better audio by Tom
Hi fellas. I have a sony digital 8 camcorder (TRV355) and would like to improve the quality of sound I get from it when filming. I assume this is best don by purchasing a mic to use instead of the onboard one. This would effectively be a boom, therefore? (Sorry I'm a massive amateur)

Primare Pre 30 and ATC CA2 by Brad
I am considering these two pre-amps and would appreciate any comments or advice anyone can give me. I know that the ATC costs about 760 pounds, but I don't know the price of the Primare in the U.K.. Here is Australia they cost about the same - $3500.00. I have not been able to find any comprehensive individual review of either item - I don't have access to Hi-Fi News's review of the ATC CA2,...

Playing WAV files from PC by Keiron
I've ripped most of my CDs to my PC's hard drive, using EAC and storing as WAV (uncompressed) files. Sound quality, via the optical out and into my Rotel 1066 processor into my Dynaudio speakers or Stax phones is fabulous. However, experimenting with different players eg Itunes, Winamp shows that the replay level on iTunes is substantially lower than that of Winamp, and unless I'm mistaken, the...
