Bose System II means what exactly??? by Roger Hayman
I am looking at a Bose Lifestyle 8 system. It does not seem to be "Series II". Presumably, it is the version before System II. What difference is there between the systems? Roger

Ceiling Speaker Recommendations by Craig
Hi, Can anybody recommend some speakers suitable for a bathroom ceiling? They are to go in a wooden false ceiling with about 6" clearance above? A lot of the ones I've seen don't go below 150hz, I'd prefer something a bit better than that. Thanks in advance Craig

Quad FM4 battery replacement by John Phillips
I see the memory backup battery in my Quad FM4 is leaking slightly so I want to replace it. Has anyone done this before? Are there any issues to watch out for? I think Farnell part number BT00153 looks right: http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=BT00153&N=411 -- John Phillips

London bombings cause panic and terror.... by Keith G
....in newsrooms all across the nation's capital! The police, emergency services and the ordinary population calmly got on with the task of dealing with it, apparently - my youngest son was was working underground (network cabling) just round the corner from Edgware Road tube when the bombs went off!! Could anybody here working for the BBC do me a favour and pass the word? - These...

Arcam AVR-250 or AVR-300? by Glenn Richards
Right, I went and had a demo of an AVR-300 at the weekend, which was quite breathtaking! The sales assistant however suggested that the AVR-250 would sound just as good at the kind of levels I was testing it at (and when I played the end bit of Return Of The Jedi I had it considerably louder than I'd be listening at home), especially as the 250 is currently on a special offer (£899 instead...

permitted vhf frequencies in the UK (wireless microphones) by tg
for wireless microphones: is using 176.2MHz legal in the UK or is this frequency already allocated elsewhere? I tried googling around - I found some tables here and there about available frequencies but I couldn't find any info on this particular frequency. Thanks for any help.

Suggetions?: Wireless speakers with multiple sources by Ellarco
I would like to buy a couple of wireless speakers for my room. Now I would like to be able to send the audio from my laptop AND tv (maybe my old stereo too but I dont use that much) to these speakers (merging the sound rather than having to switch between one or the other if possible). Rechargeable battery power would be a plus as the AC cables would defeat the effect Im going for here :) What...

FreeView boxes by Dave Plowman (News)
I've got four, including an original Philips OnDodgy one complete with 'credit card' But having got a new TV, I wanted one which looked OK with it and the Sony VTX-D800U filled the bill - as well as being more convenient being vertical mounting. The pictures are fine and the prog guide the best of any I have. But the audio via the SCART is low. I did some tests today. The original FreeView STB...

Dual mono PSU for power amplifier? by John Phillips
Tony Sayer just pointed to a supplier who does upgrades for Quad 303 amplifiers (http://www.net-audio.co.uk/). I note they also do a dual mono PSU upgrade for the 405 (see http://www.net-audio.co.uk/405dmpsu.html). They claim advantages for dual mono over the existing shared PSU arrangement. I should get round soon to replacing the PSU capacitors in my vintage 1983 405-2 but I was wondering if...
