Blueroom Minipods by
Ben
Hi,
Has anybody got any opinions on Blueroom Minipods? I'm looking for a new
pair of speakers and like the look of these. Not had a listen to a pair yet
though.
Cheers :o)

link doesn't appear to work?
But it does bring up a a bunch of pop-ups.
Also, it's massively cross-posted. Stinks of mingy spam to me, and possibly
malware, cos I got a "script error" message, asking me whether I wanted to
continue running scripts on the page.

Placing speakers on floor by
Charles C.
Hi again,
Thanks for your previous answers to my questions. Another newbie
question :-)
I got some floor standing loudspeakers (yet to arrive). I would not
want to place them on the floor using the spiked feet ... through the
carpet and onto the wooden planks underneath ... as I would rather not
have the vibration on the floor boards.

Suprising results from "nonsense" setup by
SpellmanT7
I was in need of some suitably low-powered speakers, for the purposes of
testing out an old sanyo amp bought on ebay - fifty five pence and £6
postage (cost the seller £8.17 to send it, hehe). I'd removed the driver
units from my KEF Q35 some time ago - once the tweeter unit had broken in
one of them, I saw no point in finding space for two unattractive
floorstanding cases.
As a substitute for...

Speech CD by
Charles C.
Hi,
I will soon start looking for loudspeakers. Does anyone have any idea
where I could find a CD with just speech to use as part of the audition?
Any other tips welcome ;-)
The speakers are to be connected to a NAD 320BEE and 521BEE as the source.

One for Arny... by

Arny, you commented (quite rightly) on the appearance of a ****ty Waitrose
pie of which I recently posted a picture.
Check this sorry item out:
http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/Pie%20Chart.jpg
and compare the picture on the box with the real thing....
I'm sure they wouldn't get away with it in any other country!!

Purchase question by
Uzmi Novce I Bjezi!
Hy!
I'm planning to buy receiver + floorstanding loudspeakers for hi-fi (not
home cinema) purpose.
I would mostly listen to mp3's (all kinds) and radio.

Turntable playback speed problem by
Bruce C. Miller
Hi all. I hooked up my Linn Sondek LP12 for the first time tonight and
within a few seconds, to my horror, I noticed that it was spinning
records too slow. I'm in the US, but the LP12 I own (which I purchased
used) is marked as a 110V one, and the sticker on the back says that it
should be able to handle 50-60Hz.
It has the Valhalla power supply and the Cirkus motor upgrade.
Visually, everything...

Before and After by
Iain M Churches
Between audio projects, I have been transcribing and
restoring some audio tracks.
I have a pristine English shellac 78rpm pressing
(HMV cat no: J.O.153) of a Duke Ellington number,
entitled Chloe, recorded in Chicago, October 28th 1944.
The shellac pressing complete with snap crackle and
pop from the cereal port, can be heard at:

Almost forgot this one! by

IMO, the thing MC carts do best is *voices*, especially separating them in
close harmony like this in track:

Does anyone hear distortion at 2.22 and 2.29 or is just my computer speakers
breaking up?
(Been up for a while now and due to be taken off....)

Help! - Wiring Phono Leads to Rega by
Jamezgb
Hi Group,
I've made a bit of a mistake and wondered if anyone had any good
advice. I have just took my Rega Planar 3 turntable out to use (I have
recently moved) and found that one of the Phono leads had a dodgy
connection (I had to wiggle it around a lot to make a connection).
After a quick examination where I could see that the other end of the
phono leads are sealed through the turntable into...

Vinyl to MP3 recorders by
britrail
I'd like to transfer my vinyl recordings to MP3 or WMa. What machines
can I use for this. I beleive the Iriver H10 or the Archos Gmini400 can
do this. Are there any better machines or any other advice on this
subject

Tri-amping, driver time alignment, and carbon fibre cones by
Wally
A few days ago, I bought a Cyrus Straightline amp to go with my Cyrus 2 and
my valve amp, and I am now doing the tri-amp thing. The valve amp is on the
tweeters, the Cyrus 2 on mid range, and the Straightline on bass. Some
tweaking of the Behringer DSP parametric thingy with the aid of a sound
level meter has yielded what, to my ears, is a pretty balanced sound.
The main perceived sonic...

Command line EQ/Filter tool by
Toby
Can anyone recommend a commandline EQ tool?
The kind of functionality I am after is
c:\ eqtool.exe -inputfile.wav -frequency -Q -gain -outputfile.wav
(just an example)
....in order to batch EQ a bunch of wavs from the command line.
I'm sure these things must exist, from the Win3.1/DOS days of

"CE" Approved Equipment ? by
alan ralph
Hi All,
Does anyone know what the situation is with regards to non-CE approved hifi
items being used in the UK. I believe if you are a manufacturer ? or dealer
? you should only sell CE approved equipment in the UK, but with so much
equipment being sold on ebay and the internet worldwide it must be difficult
to enforce.
