Remember the Lecson HL1? by
Mike Gilmour
Pair of these horn speakers going on ebay # 5811871517, works very well
with valves IMO. Might bring back a few memories to some folk.

Project Debut SB - am I doing something wrong, or just expecting too much? by
Mike G
I recently took delivery of a Project Debut III Phono SB, and I'm
reasonably pleased with the performance. It plays my records, and by
and large they sound very good through the built in phono stage.
In some respects, however, I find the Debut disappointing in
comparison to my old (and now broken) Technics SL-D2 direct drive, and
I have to wonder whether I'm expecting too much from this...

Positive Feedback by
Keith G
Here's another one to brighten your lives*:
As I already posted, the other night Shiny was round and loved the music
until he was told it was MP3s - no secret about that but, as I was also
playing CDs, he just didn't twig I was playing them off a laptop wifi'd off
a PC much of the time! And that the speakers were the Needles and not the
larger Buschhorns - familiarly known as the Pinkies...

Time to wake up... by
Keith G
and smell the Singapore Slings!
There's a prog on the telly right *now* featuring the world's busiest port -
Singapore. A quarter of all the world's cargo passes through it!!
Watching the scale of the operation and pace (enthusiasm and commitment) of
those involved confirms my suspicions that the slack-arsed, complacent West
has got a hell of a shock coming! They're docking ships the size of...

Oh yeah, you're the ****tard that posts the same ****e on uk.local.nw-england,
aren't you?
Have you got a girlfriend? Had any sex recently?
Free tip: Go and get some. Pay if necessary. You'll feel so much better.
By the way, it has not escaped me that you posted to uk.rec.audio, but
set followups to uk.rec.audio. Well I've set it back how it should be.

Akai M-8 valve R2R tape recorder by
[email protected]
Hi I just got hold of one of these and it seems in pretty good nick and
FWIW came with original box and manual.
http://rummageads.com/tstereo/akaim8/
Anyway, I'm now looking to get it serviced and was thinking of having a
pop myself for some of the simpler stuff (e.g. clean it, get some new
tape etc)
Before I start (as I don't want to mess it up) I was hoping to find
somewhere online where...

Channel volumes on a Sony STR-DB795? by
ORBscureDDJ
Hi all...
Does anybody here with a Sony STR-DB795 know how to adjust the
individual volumes for the front, rear and centre speakers in a 5.1 set-up?
I've been through the instruction booklet from front to back and am at
a loss if this function can be performed. Incidentally, my system is:
Fronts - Tannoy M3
Rears - Tannoy MX2
Centre - Tannoy MXC

EF86 by
Wally
Looking for a cheap EF86 or two - any suggestions for a UK source? Don't
need to be super-balanced, soaked-in-swampwater-to-give-'em-soul,
matched-to-the-molecule, mega-fi specials - functional and substantially
less microphonic than the buggered one in my amp will do just fine. (Ie,
freebie used is entirely acceptable. ;)

Sherwood R-125 receiver - no sound, or speakers "pop" then fade by
Adam \(UK Bargain Party Store\)
Got an Sherwood R-125 receiver from Richer Sounds 4-5 years ago, does it's
job fine.
Except now it does one of 3 things:
1: Turns on, give a loud "pop" from the speakers after something between 2
and 20 seconds, puts itself in standby
2: Turns on, sound comes out, very very wooly, sound fades to nothing over
the course of a minute.
3: Turns on, no sound at all.
Tried with different speakers.
