Can I borrow your bandsaw? (UK) by Ian Bell
I have just received a prototype PCB that I need to cut accurately to size (double Eurocard). This is well beyond my poor hack sawing skills so I am hoping there is someone not to far from me (Holt, UK) who has a band saw or something similar that I can use. Help? Cheers Ian

Is BBC TV news in HD at home? by Arny Krueger
I've taken to watching BBC daily news on the local PBS station which is HD. The BBC news is always SD. Is that PBS's fault or is BBC TV new still SD at home?

External mic for Kodak Zi8...?? by Keith G[_2_]
I have a little pocket videocam for You Tubes and it has a (unique amongst these things, apparently) socket for an external mic. Any recommendations? http://shop.kodak.co.uk/store/ekconseu/en_GB/pd/Zi8_Pocket_Video_Camera/productID.147430700 The spec says 'support stereo' which I take to mean it will record two channels in a single mic sort of way - worth bothering with or not? I've no idea!

DIY Headphone DAC by Jim Lesurf[_2_]
This is just to let people know that I've now put up a webpage describing the design of the simple headphone DAC I've been experimenting with during the last few weeks. The page is at http://www.audiomisc.co.uk/HFN/HeadphoneDAC/HeadDAC.html The aim was to produce something inexpensive and easy to build so that anyone willing to use a soldering iron and drill some holes in a metal box could make...

here's a funny thing by housetrained[_3_]
had all my cd collection ripped to WMP in WMA lossless and a new gizmo bought recently did not play WMA lossless. Rather than convert them I backed them up and then proceeded to rip them again using WAV lossless format. All looked fine and my old gizmo played them perfectly. However, the new gizmo found loads of unknown artists, albums, etc. Upon investigation I found that although all...

Sudden earth loop by Peter Chant
Any thoughts on the following? Cambridge C70 pre and two A70 power amps. I've suddenly stated getting hum from both power amps when: * Preamp is plugged into mains (whether set to active or passive) * If preamp is passive and not connected to the mains and I plug it into Arcam Alpha 5 tuner, which I assume is earthed. * I replace preamp with my own passive box with switch and volume pot.

OK then, You Tube it is....??? by Keith G[_2_]
Lurking courtesy of Eternal Sunshine.org, I see the vinyl storm blow out only to reveal an odd little You Tube mention which prompts me to post a poser. (Wot new?) I have been posting some crappy little vids to You Tube by way of practice with the ultimate aim of posting clips of Swim Bo's efforts with her newly-acquired alto saxophone - prompted and inspired, I might add, by Iain's...

Electronic CD storage by Gordon MacPherson
Hi, Hit in the face by the Brennan JB7 ad in Radio Times, I would like advice about electronic CD storage. I play CDs via a Cambridge Audio D500 player, a NAD C326 BEE amp and Monitor Audio Silver RX6 speakers, and listen mainly to classical music. The amp is also fed from a Sony Bravia TV, and I have a Dell PC hooked up to work via the TV (including sound) by a non-VGA link (HDMI?).

Instrumentation op-amp for DC-coupling to audio input? by Lostgallifreyan
I'm considering an op-amp for making a DC coupling adapter to a soundcard to convert it to signal logging purposes while retaining its audio performance. It uses a passive adder and a gain of 2 to add a bias voltage to the signal before an ADC input. The sound card is one with external analog circuitry in a rack unit, it has 20 bit signal conversion, so this op-amp will have to be good to...
