Anything positive to say about BBC HD quality. by Arny Krueger
"Iain Churches" wrote in message Many people picked up on this outside UKRA in a very short space of time. One even identified the Midi sound generator, and played a horn figure amost identical to the one that Arny had used. It was easy to ABX the difference. No cigar.

"Iain Churches" wrote in message He probably will not need to. The fact that Laurence studied piano and trombone at the Royal Academy of Music is well-known. Studying and accomplishing are two different things. Its pretty obvious that you never learned this in your apparently long-enough life Iain.

rock vocals microphone? by John Stumbles
My 16-yo budding rock guitar hero son is after a microphone. He and his mates often record themselves jamming and don't have a suitable mike. They tend to record into PCs (or Macs) and I guess might want to bung it into guitar amps or various bits of domestic audio kit they have around. Apart from vocals I guess it might be used recording acoustic guitars. It definitely needs to be robust and,...

Cordless headphones suitable for line-output by Richard Russell
A friend wants to obtain a pair of cordless headphones for connecting to the line output of a TV (it doesn't have a headphones output), so they must have a relatively high input impedance. None of the specifications I've seen mention that, which isn't very helpful. Can anybody recommend a current model or models which are definitely suitable for connection to a line...

Record Shops by David Looser
"Iain Churches" wrote I was amazed when David L said that he had no local record shop. I have a dozen within 20 minutes of here, Well let me see. 10 mins in one direction there's a small co-op, a post office, a newsagents and a teashop. The post office does sell a few cheap DVDs, but no audio. 10 minutes in the opposite direction there's a post-office cum general...

HT Relay by Ian Bell
I am trying to select a relay for a delayed HT switch (which will also discharge the HT when off). Most relays I can find have contacts rated at 250VAC which translates into a peak of about 350V. However, data is scarce on what dc voltage these relays can switch. So far I have found only one that gives a dc current versus voltage curve and that stops at 210V dc (and 200mA) and I really want...

Opinions on Musical Fidelity preamp by Schizoid Man[_2_]
Hello, I'm considering investing in a used Musical Fidelity A3cr preamplifier, and was wondering if anyone owns or has owned this unit? I'm planning to pair it with a Primare power amp and using this configuration to drive a pair of Dynaudio floorstanders. Could someone give me an approximate blue book value for a unit that's about 4-5 years old and in good cosmetic condition?

Which Blu Ray Player? by RD500
I am looking to buy a Blu Ray player. My question is: Can I find a blu ray player that will be as good playing CD's as it will be for DVD's and Blu Ray discs, or will I need to purchase a separate CD player? I am not sure whether the quality components built into a $1000 blu ray player will also be as good for CD's? Any opinions or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Reg
