Echo Layla 24/96 on Via EPIA MII12000 by
Lostgallifreyan
Has anyone here tried the Echo Layla 24/96 audio/MIDI interface unit on a Via
EPIA MII12000 mainboard? If so, what did you see when you tried?

Gordon MacPherson
I have a Dell Latitiude 410 laptop and a Panasonic Viera LED TV. I can use a
VGA cable to get an excellent picutre from the Dell on the TV - what do I
need to do to get the sound across also?
Thanks

Computer to Pre-Amp connection query. by
David[_2_]
Hello,
I would like your opinions on how to go about connecting up a PC to my
pre-amp. The computer is in a different room from the amp and at the moment
I have simply connected a minijack plug from sound card (SB5.1) to din
socket on amp in next room.
I would like to improve on this and have come up with a few options and
would like your comments.
1. Get new sound card with digital out...

service? by
Jim Lesurf[_2_]
I'd be interested to know if anyone here has in recent years returned any
audio kit back to a UK maker for service/repair. And if so, how long the
process took, was the job done well, etc...
Asking because I've sent something back for service/adjustment/repair and
it seems to be taking longer than I'd expected. Back in ye olde days at
Armstrong we generally fixed/serviced sets sent back in no...

Presonus Inspire Vs. Windows 7 + 64 bits by
Arny Krueger
I just installed my Presonus Inspire on my revitalized Windows 7
Professional evaluation machine, and frankly see no beef.
I seem to recall reports of some issues - I'd like to try to recreate them.

Wireless again by
Gordon MacPherson
I have acquired the Sennheiser wireless phones and am very pleased with the
quality. Thanks for the input. I have another question. Wife and I would
like to be able to listen to BBC radio iPlayer in our bedroom, but the
computer is elsewhere. I have a couple of spare speakers - small Onkyos. Is
there any way that I can drive these wirelessly from the computer - it is
hooked up to my NAD...

A little ipod advice ? by
srt
Hi,
I have a moderate ( old ) set-up involving a NAD 3120 amp + NAD 4130 tuner +
Arcam alpha 7 cd + Rega planar 3 Deck + B&W DM 602 s3 speakers.
I have been mulling over introducing an iPod into the system but don't
really know where to begin.
I've looked around but just get lost!
I have also thought a bit about upgrading the whole setup altogether but tbh
it does a reasonable job at the...

NE 5534 by
Dave Plowman (News)
I need to knock up some stereo (domestic) line level amps with a gain of
0-10dB.
Using a +/-15 volt supply. Anything better than the ol' NE 5543 for this
these days?

DAB station names and messages by
Brian Gaff
Now following on from my pure Sonus 1 thread I kind of wondered what the
station IDs actually are. Many are now completely incorrect of course, but
if it does not understand the station name, its supposed to spell it. Now
some do and yet some have the old names attached. For example there are
still Primetime, Virgin, No Access, Capital Gold Classic Gold etc spoken,
even though the stations...

Radiofix for Pure radios by
Brian Gaff
Hmm, well, I got my Sonus 1 XT back from this company, supposedly fixed the
other day. It has lost two rubber feet in its travels and although the note
says no parts were used, its clearly in a different case to the one I sent.
Now it ran for around a day before it started acting up again.
Seems to me it has internal logic trouble. its been reflashed with the
latest firmware, but this has not...

Amplifier stability by
Eiron
Have we all stopped arguing? May I ask a question?
What's the best way to check if a power amp is likely to be stable
into a capacitive load such as an ESL?
I could put a 2uF cap on the output and look at the output on a scope
while feeding it with a square wave.
But is it likely to damage anything if the amp fails the test?
One old Rotel amp has a warning in the manual against capacitive...

Can anyone identify this 1960s (?) recording, a few phrases
of which were used in the British TV series Heartbeat?

Another day, another instrument by
Don Pearce[_3_]
Went to an antiques fair today and found this, which was clearly
irresistible. Made in 1880, it is a lauten - a cross between a lute
and a guitar, and it sounds brilliant.

Vinyl wanted Urgent by
Iain Churches[_2_]
I know a few people here have fine collections
of LPs so hopefully some one will be able to
help me out.
I am looking for LPs by Arturo Motta, a
Latin American band leader from the 1950s.
If anyone here has any vinyl by this orchestra,
I would very much like to borrow/rent it for
transcription.

Hammond Meanderings by
Wally
The Korg G4 Leslie simulator arrived today, and I've been messing about to
get a feel for the sounds it can produce. Here's a very meandering
mess-about with a two-chord backing and improvised 'melody' (ie, somewhat
random series of notes)...

Same deal with recording - straight into the minidisc unit, then dumped into
the PC using the minidisc...
