Another CD myth exploded.. by Keith G
There is a popular theory that unwanted CDs..... :-) ....make good bird-scarers.....?? Well, sorry to explode another widely-held *belief* about CDs, but the truth is they actually *don't* - after the brief, initial reaction, when the birds

Bookshelf spkrs for classical by Gordon MacPherson
Hi, I am looking for bookshelf speakers to play classical music. Price range is up to 350 GBP (say 500 USD). I have heard good things of the B&W DM602 S3, Epos M5, Monitor Audio RS1, Wharfedale Diamond 9.2. I have a medium sized room (about 12x14 ft). At the moment I am leaning towards the Monitor Audios. Any other suggestions or opinions welcome Thanks

Quad ESL 2805 by Hans
Is there anybody who did hear the Quad 2805 loudspeakers ? Seems to me they added some extra in the upper and lower regions. Especially bass is much more than in previous models and is sometimes to much for me. I think previous models especially Quad 988 had a more neutral character. What do other Quad owners think of the Quad 2805?

Headphones for home recommendation? by AberTech
Can anyone recommend headphones in the £40 - £75 range for use with a hi-fi system, mp3 players, possibly even for TV or PC use. They wouldnt be used out-and-about so size, trendiness etc is not important. TIA.

OT? Remixing / Sampling by doki
When someone remixes or samples a part of a record, how's it done? Do they lay their hands on masters with all the instruments & vocals separated, or do they just blank out frequencies until they've got what they want? Or is there clever computerism?
