Sony CDX-616 - CDR/RWs??? by Andy F Batter
I've recently bought one of these from ebay, it works fine with original discs, but doesn't seem to like CDRs burnt with Nero. For obvious reasons I'd rather not keep original discs in the car, as backups are far more expendible - Does anybody know whether this changer works better with discs burnt onto certain media, or with a certain program? Or is anything but the original discs no-go...

Amar's Magic Strikes Again!! by Dave Plowman (News)

Amar's Magic Strikes Again!! by Jem Raid
I have a friend up our allotments who bought some tiny speakers, little hinged like things and a bass box, I guess now that they are those bose things. One time I went round to his house to fix his computer and rather upset him when I asked if he'd bought the little things from the local market. He said they cost a LOT of money and they sounded like a battery operated transistor radio, though of...

behringer mic100 ultragain tube? opinions? by M
hi all anyone have any opinion on this unit? I am hoping to use it as a mic preamp for my studio projects C1 and ALSO i was hoping to connect my (non active) electric guitar straight into it, just for getting the best signal into the computer, where i will use amp modelling software. Is it suitable for this purpose? Was it designed just for mics, or will it do guitar DI just as well? Thanks!

Orchestral sound levels at home by John Phillips
To pursue an academic thought (rather than a desire to annoy the neighbours) I was thinking about whether "orchestral" sound pressure levels can be reasonably achieved at home. I think the answer is yes, from just personal listening experience in the concert hall (classical orchestral music, not normally closer to the stage than 10 metres) and listening at home. However the more academic answer...

Amar's Magic Strikes Again!! by Jim Lesurf
In article , Peter Sammon Well once again Bose has worked their magic in not only designing a very inconspicuous and onubtrusive speaker system with performance that betrays its small size and price! A "best buy"? YES!! For less than $400 the Bose AM-3 SERIES IV rises above all others at its low price and some costing twice as much! With...

Nakamichi service/repair? by Stimpy
I have a Naka CR3 cassette deck which is surplus to requirements - I haven't used a cassette for at least 3 years now - but it needs a drive belt replacement before it can go up on ebay. Can anyone recommend a decent repair engineer in Bristol (or thereabouts) who'll do the job for a reasonable price? Given that it's going to be auctioned off immediately I don't really want to spend more than...

Got the headphones. by Andy Hewitt
Hi chaps. Thanks for the conversation on the headphones, I got the Grado SR60's in the end. I have to say I'm not dissapointed. Most of the reviews suggested the bass on the 60's wasn't as good and on the 80's, but having now heard the 60's I think I would have been less impressed with the 80's. The 60's definitely have just the right balance for my ears. I haven't had the opportunity to test...
