IPL Subs anybody?? by Keith G
I'm (quite possibly) in the market for a 'decent' sub** and I'm all at sea.... I've auditioned a Mission which wasn't too peachy and have been offered a go at some nicely veneered but ludicrously-priced REL 'minicubes' (Quake?) - with tiny drivers that ain't even gonna beat my main speakers ('10 inch' bass drivers). So, I'm wondering about throwing one together myself - anyone got a good...

Re Valve amps by StaffBull
Thanks for the helpful comments below - another question I have is if I would leave a valve amp on all the time or switch it off and have to wait for it to warm up every time I need it? cheers

This Review's Got The Lot! by Tat Chan
A review of the Arcam CD73 ... http://202.186.86.35/audio/story.asp?file=/2004/9/23/audiofile/23arcam&sec=audiofile Starring ... - character "Too dry sounding.” “Lacks colour.” “No character.” Audiophiles would no doubt be familiar with such terms describing the Arcam sound in the past."

Ruark Templar by Ronny Svensson
I have seen some used Ruark Templar (at a resonable price) and wonder about technical specification: Impedance, sensitivity and frequency response. Can't find this on the net. Epecially interested if the impedance is SET-friendly (without low peaks). Ronny

Mission M3as sub query by Keith G
Having recently upgraded the DVD scenario hereaboots with the acquisition of a cracking little projector, I have had to match it with a DVDP upgrade (Pioneer DV-575A) to get decent Component Video Out with Progressive Scan* and am now auditioning a Mission M3as sub. (Well, wot else can ya do....? :-) It sounds (kind of) fine to me, but I'm in uncharted waters here - does anyone have any...

Spendor BC-1s rattling by paul4mo
I've just inherited an old pair of Spendor BC-1s that my uncle bought in the '70s. They haven't been used for nearly 20 years so I tried them out and they sound fantastic, but there appears to be some kind of rattle from one of the tweeters (the middle driver of the 3, I believe the top one is a super-tweeter?). Does anyone know if this is something that can be repaired in the UK and if it is...

For Sale: Audio Kit by David Houpt
Hi I have the following items for sale. I thought that I would offer them to members of the group before they go on Ebay. A pair of Rogers LS7t speakers in black veneer. The veneer is rather battered but the speakers seem to work OK. A pair went for £159 on Ebay recently but, given the condition, I am asking £100 A Denon PMA 250 amplifier for £25

Rel Stadium and Anthony Gallo Micro by Nick Brooks
Problem: My old Rel Stadium doesn't have a high pass filter, in fact it has no outputs at all only one XLR input. Anthony Gallo nucleus micro manual says "If you use a non-Anthony Gallo sub-woofer that does not have a high pass crossover, then you will need to use a passive high pass filter." What sort of filter should I look for or are there other solutions to the problem?

Hmmm. by John Farthest
HOW come rap artist Dr. Dre can use the 'N' word on his multi-million selling albums and win a MOBO award, yet when I used it at my son's football match I was asked to leave the park? Once again, it's one law for the rich and another for the rest of us :-( John

canon cone type speakers from the early 90's by Will Reeve
Hi all, I remember reading about these years ago, basically from memory they are a single driver firing down onto a cone which is meant to give a diverse sound stage and fill a large room! I thought they were cool at the time but too expensive for a student (400quid from memory?). Anyway I have just been offered a pair for 125quid in very good condition with matching stands (they sit about 3...

MP3 Download Sources? by Gary D.
I'm new to digital music and want to know where I can download/purchase legitimate digital music from the web. I've heard about Napster - but what other web sites can provide authentic original tracks for purchase? --- You're never alone with schizophrenia!
