Guidance sought re Audio speakers needed via projector from DVD & PC by
km
I have just installed 5 computers for a charity I help. Am now moving
on to the use of a BenQ PB2240 projector.
My knowledge is very limited re Audio.
I can see that if I attach a Computer (PC) to the projector I can run
speakers from the SPKR or Line-out sockets on the computer, but what
do I do with DVD (Philips DVP630)?
From what I can see the projector has an audio jack but I think that

I think you are responsible for two tracks that are lying around on my PC
which I love deeply but have no idea who did them. Was it you? Can you help?
Was that six bullets or only five?

Quad II and GZ34 by
John Smith
Hi,
Is it OK to replace GZ32s with Mullard GZ34s in Quad II amps?
If not what is the recommended replacement for GZ32s? I have seen articles
that imply some of the modern GZ32 'equivalents' draw too much heater
current and can damage the mains transformer.
Thanks for any info.

Technics SB-440 speakers - any info? by
John Smith
Hi,
Does anyone know anything about Technics speakers model SB-440? I picked up
a pair recently and think they sound quite good driven by my Quad IIs.
They are big and heavy (they weigh about 30lbs each) but surprisingly
sensitive. I guess they were built in the 1980s. Each speaker has a horn
tweeter, what look like two small mid-range units behind a rectangular
cover, and a large woofer (10...

Pinko Presumptuous: yours, gentlemen of UKRA? by

Gentlemen and others on UKRA:
Poor Pinko Presumptuous is being crucified on RAT. You UKRA jokers who
sent the pitiful little man to RAT to "take the fight to the enemy" (1)
had better come fetch what's left of your gladiatorial envoy before
there is nothing left except a whimpering wet spot.
Pinkerton is a posturing poodlefaker who knows nothing about
electronics we don't already know and less...

Audio Market Sectors by
andy
Is anyone aware of a freely available (i.e. not costing a few hundred
pounds) report on the size of the various Audio sectors. A few years
old should be fine. I particularly wish to distinguish between the
large basic consumer grade sector and the more expensive Audio sectors.

Domestic sub: experiences please by
Peter Scott
The great leap forward! I have just installed an Behringer cross-over and
now want to
build/buy a sub to run off the low channel (variable crossover from 44 Hz
up). I've got
a 500W (genuine rms) amp to drive a sub. I should say that my listening room
is large:
7m x 5m x 2.5m so the power is not over the top. I am using a redundant car
sub as I'm
still in the experimental stage.

Restoring an old recording by
Simon Finnigan
Hi everyone,
the quick story is that I`ve got a very old recording that`s been
transferred tape to tape a few times over the years, and I want to try and
restore it as much as possible. It`s not worth money, it`s a present for a
friend that would have a lot of sentimental value, but there`s not much
money to spare to get this done - certainly not enough to have a
professional look at...

Amp suggestions anyone? by

Apologies if this appears twice, I posted it previously but it didn't
show up
Hi all,
On the advice of people in numerous audio newsgroups (many thanks) I've
recently built a set of speakers for movies and music. They're all
designs from Wilmslow Audio, listed below:
Front: Nemesis. Treble: Scan-speak D2905/950000, Bass: Scan-speak

A subwoofer shortlist? by
John Phillips
I'm not familiar with subwoofers and would appreciate advice on creating
a shortlist to audition. I regret I do not have a spare cupboard to do
what Don Pearce did and anyway I prefer to buy rather than make.
The sole purpose is for two-channel music (opera recorded "live" is a
special interest and piano music too - but I like a lot more "natural"
music than that).
The room is not large: 7...
