Any hope for a 40 year old tape reel? by Nick
Hello, Apologies if this is the wrong group but I'm looking for some expert opinion on an old reel of audio tape. It's a 7 inch diameter reel marked "REGENTONE" and the tape is a quarter of an inch wide. The tape is about 40 years old. The reason I'm interested is that there is a chance that my father's voice might be on it. He died when I was quite young so I don't really remember him. Is...

Tuner compares CD players? - Advance notice! by Keith G
OK, this is good. I have set up the Marantz *tweaked* CDP (£500 new**, apparently) on my recently-acquired Argos POS stack (where the CD player cost nobbut 70 quid, IIRC) thusly: http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/cdpcompare.JPG The output levels have been matched nicely (the Marantz has built-in attenuation) and I can flick to and fro between them *instantaneously* while

Clio CD Problems ... by Stace 12587
Hi, I have just bought a Renault Clio 2003 Dynamique and it comes with a Tuner List CD head unit. I am having a bit of trouble with the whole thing to be honest. This is my first car and basically I want to keep my head unit (if possible) and Just add a CD Changer to my car. But many people are telling me its better to buy an MP3 CD Player head unit for my car and just replace my head unit. The...

Rega ELA speakers ? by Tony Gartshore
I picked these up at a boot sale this morning, but I'm not 100% sure what they are.. I know they're REGA ELAs 'cos it says so on the back.. But they're completely different to the current ELA (2000 ?). Anyone have any info as to age etc ? Currently hooked up to an Audiolab 800a and sounding remarkably sweet playing Du Pre/Barenboim Boccerini B flat concerto..

Bridged into 4 ohm speakers? by Tom Harvey
Hi there, Please excuse the stupid question... I have 2x 4 ohm speakers which I intended to run from 2 x amps bridged, but on the amps it says to use a minimum of 8 ohm speakers in bridged mode. Can I use them in this way, will it cause any damage to the amps/speakers, sound problems, or should I have to have a re-think? Any explanation in idiot proof, layman's terms would be gratefully

It will be this type: http://www.maplin.co.uk/images/full/130i0.jpg I don't understand the technical side but is 10 metres so long that

This programme does decompress MP3 files first - it just doesn't save them as wav files. There is no other way to do this as neither an ogg nor an mp3 resembles music in its native form...
