Audio quality "CD Clock Radio" by
RPS
I would like to have a CD Clock Radio for the side table in the
bedroom. Each of those options is necessary and important.
My problem is that it is a tiny crowded space, and I don't have
room for the mini systems I might have wanted.
I looked at Tivoli (being very happy with their Model One radio),
but they only seem to offer a two-component, which for that
reason also adds up to $400. I...

Speaker cab materials by
Wally
Slightly off the wall, but bear with me...
Whatever subs I end up with, there will come a time when the large 3-way
boxes I'm using at present will no longer contain bass drivers and will be
replaced. The replacement cabs will likely use the existing KEF B110 and T27
drivers.
I'd like the small cabs to be as free of possible resonances and similar
effects as is feasible. To this end, those...

Speakers for Nad 3120 by
mario
Hi guys,
I had the chance to have this integrated amplifier NAD 3120 in good
condition (I tested it yesterday with my "big" speakers) and I'm
wondering to use it in my room as a budget hi-fi.
Now I have to look for some budget bookshelf speakers. Do you have
any suggestion? I have been told for example Mordaunt Short 902,
or some Mission (I can't remember the code), or Aliante CNM or
Usher. I'm...

Why ?
Why restrict one's sources to a local transmitter when the Internet

Poorly thought out question.

BBC Internet Audio listen again by
Trevor Appleton
I used to ( a week ago) be able to use listen again and suddenly I
can't.(this has happened before, though I don't know why it happened then,
I'm sure its happened to others)
I'm listening to Radio Scotland - couldn't find a news group sorry.
Listen live works fine - a seperate realplayer window launches, but listen
again won't work!
Any suggestions very much appreciated as I'm missing Iain...

Sony HAR-LH500 - Title database by
Leo
Hi All,
Can anyone confirm whether the Sony HAR-LH 500 hard disk recorded has a CD
title database preinstalled.
Their website http://products.sony.co.uk/productdetail.asp?id=7_40_3584
indicates it does, however my experience of it suggests it doesn't, I have
had mine for about a week now and so far have ripped about 150 CD's onto it,
out of which only one CD came up with title information and...

Upgrade questions by
Fish
I'm moving to a smaller house soon and alas my present audio stuff will
need changing for a smaller, more neighbour-friendly set-up.
At present I have a Bryston pre/power combo (250-watter) and a pair of
large Dynaudio floorstanders. Nothing-special CD-player as imho
cd-players are nothing special.
I've seen various favourable reviews around stuff like AVI integrated
amps and ATC or...

Biwiring by
RJH
Hi - I've just bought some speakers, JMLab Chorus 715, marvellous. Anyway,
something in the setup instructions intrigued me - bi-wiring "reduces or
eliminates any problem caused by the bass drivers feeding any signal back to
the amplifier. This signal intermodulates and spoils the sound quality of
the midrange and treble". Er, what?!
I don't bother with biwiring as a rule, but should this cause...

Personal CD Players by
The EggKing
I don't jog, so I'm not interested in 40 second memories and all that
business. I'd just loike to know if any of them have a half decent sound
when played through half decent headphones (Grado SR80s) so I can listen to
music in bed or on long journeys. I'm struggling to find any reviews.
Any help greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Audio recording software ? by
Andy12437
Bit of a long shot, but i am wanting software which will:-
a) record directly to .mp3 (selectable quality) - if not in realtime, then
have it's own encoder to mp3.
b) allow me to hit a 'hot key' to divide the track in real time (or click a
button etc to do this).
c) be able to pause the recording and resume when talking is over.
d) allow me to trim the file and/or fade start/finish of each...

Hi all and happy new year :-)
New to the group.
I've seen a cracking little system the denon dm31 and have become quite
impressed with its sound a capabilities for its cost and was thinking abou
buying one.
I have quite a small living room and thought the denon would be ideal. I did
read the speakers where made by mission which is a bonus. Also can be bought

Cassette deck(s) by
GSV Three Minds in a Can
My 21 year old Aiwa cassette deck has gone belly-up, and (if it can't be
repaired) I'm probably in the market for a replacement .. anyone got any
thoughts/opinions on what is a decent single cassette deck these days -
preferably with Mic inputs.
Many of the vendors I recall from my last shopping trip seem to have
vanished over the last 20 years. 8,
I guess I need to think about getting my...

Isobaric subs - wiring and impedance by
Wally
It occurs to me that, since an isobaric sub has two drivers, then there are
two options for connection, series and parallel, which results in two
options for impedance - 4 and 16 ohms.
In the interest of giving the amplifier the best chance of maintaining tight
control of the drivers, is one impedance preferable to the other? For
example, what would happen if I put a 16 ohm speaker on an amp...
