Why "accuracy"? by Iain Churches[_2_]
"George M. Middius" cmndr _ george @ comcast . net wrote in message ... Oh, so by "accuracy" you mean to convey something as blunt as not substituting strings for horns. Of course we can all agree with that. Same thing.... Maybe to you....

Communications. The good old days were good after all. by Clifford Nelson
First a review of Bix and Tram from iTunes. Many years ago I heard CBS television news say Ronald Reagan had died just two minutes ago and they played some audio of one of his speeches. It was warped and out of tune. It made me feel hatred for a split second. I heard a song sung by Frank Sinatra on the radio two weeks after he died. He sang out of tune. I've never heard Frank Sinatra sing...

Stonker or stinker? by Keith G
No-one is more aware of the old 'you get what you pay for adage' (or the various issues with cheep Chinky stuff) than I am, but my curiosity/interest in a valve microphone has had me punting a relatively paltry £132 (inc. postage) on this little lot: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320093769782&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011 Haven't had it going yet but the...

Quad 606 with a Quad 405 by Dave xxxx
On another forum a chap says, he has been told, its ok to use a Quad power amp (140 watts) with a Quad 405 (100 watts) with the same pre amplifier. The idea being the 606 powers the bass and the 405 the tweeters. Speakers being used Spendor s5e Will this work ?

FREE: Mordaunt Short MS25i Floor Standing speakers by Jay Long
Not sure if they are of use to anyone, I have a pair of Mordaunt Short MS25i speakers with damaged cabinets due to recent floods. The water only came up a couple of inches on the cabinet which has caused the wood to blister. All the electronics are situated midway up the cabinet and have not been affected by the water at all, and the actual speaker part is also fine. Seems a shame to just throw...

Audiomisc website by Jim Lesurf
Two 'annoucements' about the audiomisc website. :-) 1) I've just rearranged the folder/directory structure of the site as this will make adding some future items easier. This means that some of the sets of pages have moved. If you revisit, please bear this in mind as some old bookmarks may now be out of date. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone, but I thought I'd better bite the bullet on that...

Freeview, DAB and FM aerial on one mast by patrick j
Hi I'm planning on getting a Freeview TV. This will be the first TV I've had in six years. I'm getting clearer about the actual TV I want and generally I'm feeling quite good about that part. The question really is what to do about radio. Currently I have a rather good FM tuner in my living room and a Tivoli radio in my bedroom. Both of these get the signal from a single FM aerial on a mast...

The Beatles killed British Beat by Andre Jute
So as not to disturb my family, sleeping on the floors below me, I took the disc box from the top. It turned out to be my rock'n'roll collection, which is pretty modest at about 250 discs or sets. Putting in my hand with closed eyes, taking potluck, grabbing a handful of discs, I came out with six discs: British Beat before the Beatles, organized by years, 1956 to 1962 inclusive, EMI compilation...

Going digital with TV and Radio issues with aerial and cabling by patrick j
Hi After six years of not having a TV I've decided to get one. Not that anything has come on that is particularly good, but I want to get a lodger and I think that these days the expectation is that there'll be a TV :) Getting the TV might prompt me into "going digital" in more ways than just the TV. However I don't really understand how it all works. I'm going to describe my current set up...

What a breath of fresh air (troll, really)... by Keith G
What Hifi Sound and Vision is! Being on holiday (a laugh in itself, given the weather so far and the *amount* of digging I've done today....) I relented and asked Swimbo for a 'maggie' when she went shopping just now. (I have/had given them up as ****-boring and pompous 'agenda peddlers' who are obviously too damn scared of their advertisers to call a spade a spade...) Anyway, she bought me...
