Too late, Poopie -- busted! by George M. Middius
Donkey said: The same kind of problem existed in the former Yugoslavia. Ooh-la-la, Poopie! We had no idea what you are really up to, you fox! Look at these ebay feedbacks: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=poopie&ftab=AllFeedback So now we know you're not really an unkempt, unshaven, unwashed,

ITU Weighting Curves by Iain Churches[_2_]
Does anyone here have copies of the ITU-R 468 or ITU-R ARM ?? They are similar but ITU-R ARM is a later Dolby Labs proposal which moves the whole curve 1kHz to the right. TIA Iain

Still comparing mics (my schtick)... by Keith G
OK, as it is quiet again (V8s and School Milk OT posts notwithstanding) I thought I'd post this set of 'quick and dirty' windchime clips: http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/WindchimeA.wav http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/WindchimeB.wav http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/WindchimeC.wav http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/show/WindchimeD.wav

Williamson by QUAD? by Steve[_3_]
Recently, I found a great old amplifier. It was made in Britain and imported into the US by British Radio Electronics, Ltd. Here are pictures of it and ads about it. http://public.fotki.com/farleybob/williamson/ It has two chassis and when I first saw them from a distance, I thought they were a pair of QUAD II's. Then I thought they just knocked off the QUAD look, but the amp was released in...

How the Krooborg treasures and nurtures "audio discussions" ;-) by George M. Middius
Poopie, you get the blame for enabling Turdborg. We all know he has a problem, and this kind of Kroo-baiting doesn't help him deal with it. That's a key point that audio obsessives and golden ear journalists don't want to admit. Doesn't stop good money being spent after bad to try to obtain it. I find it ironic that so many subjectivsts tout their disdain for measurements and then...

Heathrow Sound and Vision Show 21-3 Sept. by Andy Evans
Just to add to the confusion, the Heathrow Sound and Vision Show - which last year ran parallel with the HiFi News show - is in fact at the Park Hotel this year, 21-23 Sept. See www.chestergroup.org for exhibitors. So addicts of vinyl, BritFi and earthquake films on wide screens will have their fix after all.

Perpetuum Ebner (PE 2015) repair help needed by pelfad
I am trying to repair a PE 2015 but cannot remove the turntable from the base frame to get inside. The main two problems are as follows: 1) The armlift will not move high enough to lift the arm. I have given it a little oil which has helped, but it is still not lifting high enough to move the arm over to the play position..

The Port Arthur Massacre by George M. Middius
Grrrrrrrrraham has noticed something amiss. Mr Andrew MacGregor will soon prove that the Australian government was behind the Port Arthur Massacre And why are you posting this in an audio group. You tell him, Poopie! Was someone strangled with esoteric interconnects ?

Hi-Fi news show? by Stevie Boy
Does anybody know why there is not a show at Heathrow this year? Agreeably the last 2 years has seen a clash of 2 events on the same weekend..... is this a reason to decide not to host the show? Seems a shame as it does not look like the current Sound & Vision show is going to accomadate all the usual visitors to Hi-Fi news show.

Peter Wieck, Kutztown Space 338, Thief, Stalker, Liar by Andre Jute
It's amazing that the Kutztown organizers rent space to a man with the reputation of Peter Wieck of Wyncote, PA. He is a notorious hoarder and profiteer, and a netflamer and netstalker of anyone who exposes him. His immorality, his stealing, his stalking and his lying has earned him the contemptuous nickname "Worthless Wiecky" on the Usenet. Don't the Kutztown organizers know this? Fiultra

Phantom power by Keith G
A number of days/week or three ago the topic of phantom power 'damaging' mics was mentioned by me and I couldn't recall where I'd seen it. Here it is: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk:80/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320122579983&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNASIF:UK:12 The wording also suggests a certain vulnerabilty in certain areas ('air blasts') - is this normal??

The wonderful Leak Stereo 20 revisited. by Andy Evans
I've been building balanced amps with directly heated triodes for at least a year now, so I hadn't heard a Leak for ages. As luck would have it my pal Ian's Leak needed a service, so I took it home to have a look. This was I believe the first of the "Russian Leaks" that we built. Chris Found and I took several weeks over the revised circuit, and ended up with a 6N30 direct coupled into a 6N1P....

Bodger's return: makers of beech furniture? by Andre Jute
In "The Piano Factory", a novel by Jonathan Davies, I came across another derivation for a Bodger as someone who knocks things up in a makeshift way. Bodger's according to Davies was a firm that made cheap beech furniture. Ring any bells? Andre Jute A little inaccuracy sometimes saves tons of explanation. --H.H.Munro ("Saki")(1870-1916)

PC Sound - TV - Cables by judith
I need to connect sound card output to TV input - what I needs is 35mm stereo male to 2 x phono male (RCA). But I want them to be about twenty feet long. I haven't actually found any as long as that - but if I do, I bet they will be twenty five quidish or even more. I am thinking of using the correct plugs with small tails and then connect them to twenty feet of twisted pairs or similar - just...

Poopie B'ar slips his yoke by George M. Middius
Poopie hnawked: Support for freedom of religion or support for religiously inspired limitations of rights ? If you're referring to animal rights, it's about time we corralled all the donkeys in the barnyard. We in the civilized world have had enough of your mindless braying.

SACDs by Malcolm Stewart
I've recently bought a player capable of playing SACDs. Are there any "bricks and mortar" shops (London, Oxford or Cambridge areas - the term isn't recognised locally) where I can browse for suitable media? (Am currently building a small collection via the internet.) Thanks -- M Stewart Milton Keynes, UK
