The Boss kicks Magnequest butt right out of RAT by [email protected]
Anybody see the Magnequest Trolls that Mike LaFevre sent to cause trouble on RAT? What happened to Mike LaFevre, Jon Yaeger, Henry Pasternack, Peter Wieck, Phread and Emac, who were all telling lies about Andre just days ago? The Boss kicked them so hard, they crawled away to dine on the **** sandwich Jon Yaeger announced they would feed Andre.

Impedance and amps by Doki
I'm looking at fitting some speakers I have lying around to my car. The thing is, car headunits usually have wattage quoted for with 4ohm speakers. The speakers I have at 6 ohm. Is this going to lead to a noticeable lack of volume running a boggo head unit that nominally throws out 25-30WPC RMS, or am I just going to lose the top end of the range of clipped distorted car radio horribleness?

Velleman K40x0, the very model of an all-round amp by Andre Jute

Why are "engineers" so poorly educated? by Andre Jute
You really have to wonder. Here we have three self-proclaimed engineers claiming that Class A is an amplification Class in which "the output device(s)never cease conducting under any signal condition." The three "engineers" in question are Graham "Poopie" Stevenson, Don "Bluster" Pearce and Arny "I spoke in error" Krueger. Apparently they are perfectly unable to understand, after they have been...

Any experiences with the Okki Nokki 'cadence' RCM? by [email protected]
I wonder if anyone has any experience of using this record cleaning machine. I had one, and was delighted with the results. Then, about a week after the guarantee expired, the motor for the turntable died. I contacted the retailer, who mentioned that Okki Nokki are no longer represented in the UK, making me wonder whether the machine has a tendency to break down and so no-one buys them...

Integrated Amp or Pre-Power Amp? by max graff
Hi guys, My old two channel pre-amp has gone coo-coo. Time to go shopping. I am looking at Rotel as I am very happy with my existing CD player. Should I go for a integrated amp or should I go for a pre amp connected to a power amp? Please advice.

Sound Bars....Any good?? by Richie
Has anybody any info on sound bars particularly the Denon models? Looks like a good and smart idea but will it work properly. Don't wish all the wires and speakers of normal 5.1 surround, medium living room 5 x 4 metres. Would this be ok? TIA..... Richie

ATRAC v ATRAC Lossless by martin
I recently bought a Sony NWS706 MP3 player and have been transferring a few of my CD's to it via its own SonicStage software (I should mention here that I'm a complete beginner when it comes to MP3 and the like). I used ATRAC 64kbps at first, because my player only has 4Gbytes of memory, and I've lots of long works, like symphonies. The quality seems fine, but according to so many people I've...

Amplifier switching by Rob
I've got two amplifiers and I'd like to switch between them. At the moment I'm plugging/unplugging at the speakers. For reasons of cable management, convenience and neatness I'd like to use a switch. QED did one a while ago but it's discontinued, and replaced with a wall switch which is too 'embedded' for my liking, and pricey. I was having a look in Wickes for a suitable switch, and it...

Fitting a Project Debut III with Ortofon 2M Red cartridge by max graff
Hi guys, I have had my adorable Project Debug III fitted with the Ortofon OM 5E. I am planning on moving up the ladder. After reading rave reviews of the 2M Red I am thinking of buying one. Its $120 here in Australia which is around my price range. The only concern I have is if my turntable and tonearm (project 8.6) will be handle this upgrade.

Presumably (OK, almost certainly), to compensate for our 'putting the clocks back' eBay has knocked an hour off my last eBay auction: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=270178037407&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=017 I timed it for a nice, comfortable 'post prandial' ending at 9:15 pm (when the 3rd glass of port has kicked in and caution has been thrown merrily to the...

Budget Bedside Ebay Bargain Speakers? by Les Hemmings
At the moment we have an old set of computer speakers running out of the line out from a walkman type cd player. The sound is awful and we need volume to get decent sound but I'm thinking the upstairs neighbours don't think much of this. Got the feeling that a decent set of speakers would mean we could get the clarity, separation and frequency response without needing volume... So, any...
