No idea if anyone can help here, but I've just dug up my old (but decent sounding) tape deck so I can transcribe some tapes, only to find that its suffering from 'belt rot'. all the belts (4 or 5 of them) are shot to hell - they stretch about 5 cm and slowly sag back. Having now got the Grado headphones, and got them nicely broken in, I find the lead needs to be a tad longer to suit the position of my living room furniture.
