Pioneer PL-930 DD turntable by Malcolm Stewart
I picked up a mint condition Pioneer PL-930 direct drive turntable today (bric-a-brac day at Milton Keynes market), and discover that it's fitted with a moving coil pickup cartridge, an MC3, with I guess a pre-amp buried in the deck. Can anyone advise what voltage and polarity is required for the pre-amp? Alongside the red and white phono type audio leads, there's a 3.5mm mono plug (2...

Analogue audio from line-out to USB? by CJB
How is it possible to connect an analogue audio line-out port direct to a USB port to capture the analogue audio output from say a taperecorder with a laptop please? I have a number (actually 100s) of cassette tapes to digitise onto CDs for archival purposes. I guess that I need some kind of digitising s/w but don't want to use MS Media Recorder (or whatever) because I want to be able to play the...

Amazing! by harrogate3
What does this describe? It "sets the reference for accuracy, neutrality, low distortion, and musicality" and it has "exceptional inter-transient silence, high mechanical stability and low leakage." The last few words may give it away - yes it is a (metallised polypropylene) capacitor!! What is more they range from 0.022uF (or 22nF to you and me) at GBP4 to 10uF at GBP21 each.

DAB gets real....?? by Keith G
Love it or hate it, I see the price of DAB radios has dropped below 30 quid now at places like Currys! (I thought they'd catch on in the end - when they woke up to the fact they were mostly competing with a perfectly acceptable 7 quid Murphy FM from Argos!! :-)

FS: Orbe/Gyro Armboard for Hadcock by [email protected]
Works with all standard length Hadcock Unipivot tonearms from all ages/eras as the geometry hasn't changed. Basically a machined silver billet of ally with required 3 x bolts and 3 x spacers for either Gyrodeck or Orbe. I have sold my Hadcock recently and am back in the world of normal single arm turntablism (yeah yeah I thought two arms on a TT looked cool until I had to use the frigging thing)...
