Hi, At a radio rally, I bought a ALC/AGC module for £5 which seems to be for audio use. On the supplied data sheet is shows the input and output as +4dBu. (Unity Gain) With an ALC range of -16 to +14 dBu and headroom 18dB. Does anyone know what a dBu is ? I use my PC as source (lossless files through Itunes), connected optically to a Perpetual Tehnologies DAC, then to a Rotel pre/power combo into Dynnadio 1.3mk2 speakers. Sounds excellent. However it occured to me that by and large, I only really use the PC as a source, so in this respect all the Rotel pre is doing is acting as a volume control. A volume control is however built into Itunes....
