Delay in Rcrded track w/SB Live 24 bit? by
RodQR
There is a significant delay between play back and recorded tracks.
I just installed the SBLive 24 bit.
I am recording guitar with mulitrack recording software.
In track 1 is the backing music.
I record into track 2 while track 1 plays.
When playing back the 2 tracks, the recorded guitar audio is significantly
ahead in timing and the time difference increases as the track plays.
This occurs...

Speaker upgrade ideas by
Glenn Richards
Right people...
I just added an Arcam Black Box 50 to my system, which now completely
outclasses the rest of the system (Technics SU-VX600 amp, Eltax Symphony
6 speakers).
Had a chat with my friendly local Richer Sounds, who recommended the
Mordaunt Short 908 Avant (with the built-in subs) at £499, or possibly
the 906 Avant at £349, and to keep my existing amplifier. I remember the...

Audio Analogue Donizetti Monoblocks by
Joe Folly
I have the chance to get a pair of these in a few weeks. I have no
knowledge or experience of these power amps.
Does anyone have any comments on the quality of these?
I think they are 100wpc into 8 ohms, 180 wpc into 4 ohms. They will be
used to power some Dynaudio 52SE's.

Behringer DEQ2496 question by
Ken
Hello
I've studied the on-line manual at www.behringer.com but I can't work
out what mode the DEQ2496 will be in when it powers-up. I'd like to
have one permanently set up in my home system, but not if I would have
to do loads of fiddling about every time I switch it on. Would it
power up with the GEQ and PEQ as I want it and with all the input and
outputs routed as required - rather like an...

yet another query involving mp3s (hifi related) by
[email protected]
I'm about to buy a new hi-fi as my old one has just died.
I've been looking around and have realised the micro hi-fi is more
limited than i'd expected and so i just can't decide what to go for. My
limit is £350 and i'd like something that's reasonably stylish and
that is relatively future-proof (least for the next 5 years or so).
As such i've been looking at systems with MP3 playback. It's got...

NHS Stapes surgery in the UK - any experience ? Good / bad ? audio wise by
Malcolm Stewart
I suffer from otosclerosis, really need a hearing aid in both ears, and do
wear a hearing aid in my worse ear.
I've started taking more interest in audio recently, making binaural stereo
recordings to MiniDisc, and am wondering what experiences people may have
had with this delicate operation. I've searched the medical pages, but
haven't found any write-ups by the patients! Plenty of "dB...

We know that DINs are fiddly to fit and more expensive (guess why the
spit phono has become so popular?) but how about the *advantages* of DIN
sockets? Often a lower contact resistance due to double point contact
scraping action. Self-aligning contacts - no outer shell earth...

In article , Bob Latham wrote:
I've had a Quad FM4 since 1982. Its serial number is 1247 and I think it

Well, prompted by your article I just dug my own 1983-vintage Quad FM4

1) It is a horrid brown colour with yellow buttons and huge LEDs.
2) Inadequate 7 presets.
3) No phonos - Din sockets for goodness sake.
4) Lower output level than anything else on the planet.
5) Styling from the Ark, Did Noah have one?
And the *bad* points are? ;-)
There are no real negatives in your list (if you are prepared to live with
the 'limitations' and, erm, 'style')
