Anyone Remember Lecson? by
[email protected]
Lecson made some stunning audio components back in the 1970'- winner
of a Design Council Award. You may remember their flat little
preamplifier with the multicolored sliders and their cylindrical power
amplifier.
There's a new website dedicated to Lecson at:

How to extract Sound pressure from wav file? by
Frank Rommel
I have to extract the sound pressure over time to determine
the average over 5 seconds. This I must be able to automate in order
to apply it to about 2000 sound files.
The software DIAdem , LabVIEW and MatLab are available. Another
freeware would be no problem.
Does anyone have an idea for it?
Regards Frank

iPlayer versus the rest - Proms 2011 by
Jim Lesurf[_2_]
Hi,
Just to let people know that I've just put up a new page of results. These
compare the BBC iPlayer with the audio on DAB and TV for the Proms this
year. No surprise that I prefer the iPlayer. But some of the other results
were unexpected!
You can find the new page at

Better PC voice recording? by
Terry Pinnell[_2_]
I make family DVDs. For the narrative I've been using cheapish PC
microphones. These include the long stalk type that are supposed to sit on
the desk but which I hold closer to my mouth, and the headphone type.
Slung around my neck; I don't use the earphones, which I find
uncomfortable.)
I seem to frequently hand over another £5-£15 for yet another. The last,
bought at the weekend, is a...

Horn low frequency response by
Eiron[_3_]
The low frequency cutoff of a bass horn seems to be inversely
proportional to the mouth diameter.
Any idea how low this horn will go?
http://www.denkmalpflege.lvr.de/inventarisation/stpaulus_velbert_2003_02kle.jpg
A rough calculation suggests a cutoff point of 2Hz.

Speaker drive unit replacement. by
David[_5_]
Hello,
I'm after a replacement drive unit for a Technics PX20 electric piano and am
not getting very far with Panasonic. They have told me that the part number
is EAS16PL403A and that it is no longer available and there is no
replacement part. Admittedly the Piano was bought in 1989 so I'm not
surprised that they don't have spares.
Does anybody here know of a replacement that I could try...

120V to 240V conversion by
Phil Allison[_2_]
** Hi
Customer brought in a Peavey CS800x4 four channel power amp he picked up in
eBay in near new condition. Unfortunately he forgot about the AC supply
voltage difference in the USA and the model is not dual voltage.
Very luckily, the amp uses two identical 120V toroidal transformers - one
for each pair of channels.
Soooo, I realised it was possible to connect the two primaries in series...

dealing with a part of my mis-spent yoof. Hope some find it of interest.
And I wonder if anyone can spot the faint sign of an audio connection. :-)
Apologies for the fashion sic and hairstyles on show. Signs of the

Pre-ringing by
adamdea
I have been trying to understand the problem of ringing caused by AA and AI filters. I have run into one problem which seems to be assumed in all the literature I have read. I am rather hoping that there may be a simple answer to it.
It seems to be stated that filters (non gaussian) will all embed ringing at their transition frequency. This leads to the point in the argument that provided that...

Woodside SC-26 by
Trevor Wilson
I just serviced a Woodside SC-26 preamp. Quite a nice product. Well built
and a good performer. My client wishes to trade it in, but I have no idea of
it's after-market value. Any thoughts on what it is worth would be
appreciated. It is in perfect working order. The fault turned out to be a
leaky styroseal cap.
