Bipolar Transistors for Audio by
George M. Middius
Donkey brayed:
Face facts, Witless -- the Krooborg stepped in the doo-doo again, and now
it's getting its comeuppance.
No, Arny was actually totally correct and John Atkinson has merely introduced
a red herring.
That's one possibility. The other (and much more likely) one is that
you're a doddering old fool who can't even remember the day of the week,

Bipolar Transistors for Audio by

More empty braying from Donkey.
Poopie trips over his filthy, greasy donkey tail.
Why not perform the test yourself?
Who would lsiten to ME ? besides, I can't afford to buy daft esoteric cables.
Then why the $*% do you care about some reviewer's opinion of them?

The Schumpeter Solution by
Andre Jute
Small is also beautiful. The small is the genesis of the large.
It's funny that some cannot grasp this fundamental concept with single
ended triode (SET) amps. We routinely build preamps and voltage
multipliciton stages of triodes operating single-ended, and the
diehards who with a convulsive kneejerks reject any amp without a push-
pull power stage will be the last to let go of the single-ended...

Indictment by
Andre Jute
The thread "What a sad excuse for a group this is... " currently has
217 messages. That is in itself an indictment of the lack of
imagination in the majority of participants, who agree with the
depressing sentiment but do nothing about starting a more positive
thread. Furthermore, it is indicative of a deep malaise lurking like
an infection that the offensive thread was started before...

5 Sure Fire Ways To Get Radio Play For Your “Independent” Music! by
[email protected]
You have to find radio airplay time if you’re going to be heard and
we’re not just talking the local college campus. The trick is called
promotion. Now that doesn’t mean you just put your press kit in an
envelope with a demo and hope they take pity on you. Perhaps you call
a station and they give you the standard pitch of, “Send it and if we
like it we’ll put you in rotation.” After a few months...

FM Switchoff by
Doki
Does anyone know much about this? Is anyone kicking up a stink yet? If they
ever get round to it, I'll have umpteen useless radios (two or three in
various sheds, one in every car, two attached to the hifis etc.), which is
rather worse than a couple of tellys requiring adaptor boxes. I really can't
see people being pleased at having to fork out for new car radios at £100 a
pop. Or the pretty...

What's your favourite voltage regs? by
Andy Evans
I'm appalled by the number of DC power supplies I have to build to
feed the filaments of the DHTs I use (directly heated triodes), which
need one supply per tube ideally. I'm using up loads of voltage regs
in the process, and wondered which ones "members of the panel" favour.
Typical supply is a 60VA 0-12, 0-12 transformer, then on each
secondary Schottky bridge, 15,000uf cap, 12v voltage reg and...

The emporers new clothes ? or cables......... by
Pete Cross
http://www.highendcable.co.uk/Nordost%20VALHALLA%20Power.htm
Odd that a cable like this is needed to extract the best from the old 2.5mm
t&e!
They could extend the ring main into the amp and save a packet.........

QUESTION: JBL Speaker Rattle by
EADGBE
I recently found a very clean pair of JBL L19
speakers. These speakers look new.
Before buying them, I examined the speaker
surrounds thoroughly. All of them appear to
be in perfect condition.
I took them home and hooked them up.
They sound very good, but I am hearing

New speakers by
Gordon MacPherson
I listen mainly to classical music. I have had for many years a pair of
Celestion Ditton 44s driven by an equally old Cambridge P50 amp. I thought
about replacing the Dittons with shelf speakers but none that I could afford
gave me the open "easy" clear cound that came from the Dittons. I am now in
a position to think about floor speakers with a budget of up to around
£1000. Any...

Advice for a new pair of speakers. by
JavierM
Hi all, I want to add a second pair of speakers to my equipment, is an
audio Denon amp, 4 channels (not an A/V receiver, just a normal home
amp) with a pair of Infinity 3 way speakers.
Besides the normal choices of JBL, Infinity and so, the Tangent
Millenium 100 par example could be a good choice.
I know there is a lot of brands where to choose but any help would be
appreciated, I don't want to...

RIAA out of control by
George M. Middius
Donkey starts off the new year with a constipated braying session.
I wouldn't expect the RIAA to behave any differently though. They're a bunch of
over-paid, ignorant, worthless useless IDIOTS.
You should advise them to go boil their heads in a vat of acid, Poopie.

Ping Keith G... by
Dave Plowman (News)
Did you see that the Maplin Barebone PVR is now down to 49.99? Got one for
an elderly neighbour and installed it. Had an HD lying around. Not a bad
bit of kit for the money. It came without any instructions or paperwork of
any kind - and the other one in the shop was the same. But managed to suss
most of it out.

Nostalgia attack! by
Keith G
As I switched off my 2A3 SET which had been sounding better than ever (due
to a valve swap in my phono stage) just now I could hear a feint muttering
in a foreign language! The warm *nostalgic* feeling and familiarity (Radio
Luxembourg?) was most pleasant, but it was dick-all to to with my valves -
it was coming from the little Pioneer SS amp which was/is hooked up to a
pair of B&W speakers...
