Problem with AUX port by
max graff
Dear all,
I recently bought a Rotel RC 1070 pre-amp. I have phones, CD and my
tuner connected to it and running well.I was planning on using the
last remaining AUX connection to connect my DVD to it.
The interconnects are working fine but there is hardly any volume
coming out of it until I push the volume knob to real high when I
notice a little volume through.

floor shaking drivers? by
RobertL
30 years ago, when I worked at the Building Research Station we had
some special drivers for shaking walls, floors and panels. The
driver was like a heavy metal weight (about 10kg) with an arm
projecting from it and also a cable for the driving signal. You
bolted the arm to the panel and when you applied a signal to the cable
the driver shook the panel using its own mass as counterbalance.
It...

REQ:Amp recommendation please by
The Vicar of Dibley
Hi guys/gals
Here's a tricky one for you.
I'm looking for a BUDGET audio amp that can be used to power an old pair of
Mission 732s for a special purpose.
Combination would be used to run an Ipod, via mini stereo jack and RCA
cable, as my wife teaches Tap Dance and
the current PC speaker set up (Creative with sub) is not man enough.

Akai EA-M830 Manual
Does anybody know where I can get a free operating manual for an Akai
EA-M830 Sound processor please?
PDF format would be fine.
I am out of work and not earning, which is why I cannot really afford
to pay for it.

Selling very high quality hi-fi speakers by
[email protected]
Following the death of a long time hi-fi passionned person, these
speakers are for sale. He was an electronics engineer, and he designed
and made himself. They have been working great for the past decade but
obviously we do not guarantee their future operation. There are
several hundred pages of documentation, but incomprehensible for the
rest of us mortals. The speakers are the best of what was...

Latest diy speakers by
mick
These are modified from the "Suzy Chang" design. The aim was to fit
Fostex FE107e drivers into enclosures with a small footprint and limited
height (they have to stand beneath a window). The original design is for
FE103 drivers so I've resized things a bit.
The woodwork has to be done outside...

Plate characteristics at low anode currents by
Ian Thompson-Bell[_2_]
I have being playing around with plate characteristics graphs, looking
at how basic parameters (gm,rp and mu) vary with operating point. The
most frustrating thing about this is that the published curves all
extend to rather large plate currents and voltages. For my preamp I am
working at plate currents of less than 5mA and the curves here are
rather cramped. Is there any source of curves...

Spooky! by
Eiron
Looking for a CD to play this afternoon, I picked out The Trinity Session
by The Cowboy Junkies, something I haven't heard for months.
The sleeve notes say it was recorded live on 27th November 1987,
exactly twenty years ago today. Coincidence? I think not!

Led Zeppelin by
Trevor Wilson[_2_]
Well? Did anyone here see the concert? It would have be excellent, if what I
saw on TV is a guide. I saw them in Sydney, back in 1971 (or 2, I don't
recall). It was a most excellent concert.

avoiding gaps in classical pieces ripped with SonicStage by
[email protected]
I use SonicStage to put music on my MP3 player, but notice that some
long classical pieces, though unbroken, have track numbers partway
through.
When I replay these pieces through my MP3 player, there's a very
slight hitch or gap when these track numbers come up.
Anyone know how I can solve this problem without resorting to a
different CD ripper? I do find SonicStage very easy to use, for...

Cartridge attachment by
Jim Lesurf
The old (Shure) cartridge I use has two clear holes for fixing it into the
headshell of the arm. The actual headshell has one clear hole. So I also
have an adaptor plate which has tapped holes. (Or nuts in captive slots.
Can't recall which, and they are hidden in use!)
I have been looking at modern cartridges and noticed that it is common for
them to have blind tapped holes for fixing...

Tuner query by
Gordon MacPherson
Hi,
I have a Denon analogue tuner and an an old (but excellent) AR amp. I have
acquired a Sony XDL 40W3000 LCD TV and a Sony HDR with Freeview which I can
play though the amp. Both the later of course give digital radio reception.
My question is which one(s) to go for in terms of quality for listening to
the radio (particularly classical music)
Thanks
Gordon

Does anyone know where I may buy a replacement battery (or one of
alternative spec) for my FM4.
My tuner has been laid up for about five years and no longer holds any

I read somewhere that it's rechargeable but mine no longer holds it's

It's marked on the cicuit board as M12615-3

Can I get wireless speakers? by
Dundonald
Is there something / a unit of somekind that I can hook up to speakers
that will receive music either wirelessly or bluetooth from a
transmitter ? I mean if I already have a stereo of somekind it would
be great to plug in to the stereo a trasmitter, then locate any
speaker setup / system around the home with receiver devices.
Is there such a thing?

HD280 Pro headphones by
Gav[_2_]
I'm looking for some closed headphones in the sub £100 catagory. I would
like to be able to use these on various devices so I'm looking at 64 Ohm
or less really. I was thinking about a pair of Sennheiser HD280 Pro as
they seem to have good reviews although I have read that the bass is a
little weak. If any of you guys has had any experience of these and can
offer comment I would be...
