Fitting Sony CDX-5090 to Fiat Punto by
Marc G
Hi All
I'm trying to help my godson fit a secondhand Sony CDX-5090 radio/cd into his 2002 Fiat Punto. There is two
wiring connectors in the Fiat - one with what seems to be seven wires and one with four, and there is a
incompatible block socket in the back of the Sony plus two rca? sockets.
It seems that some form of adaptor is needed. I'd appreciate any advice about what we need to get it...

Alarm in Mondeo by
Peter Butler
I've just fitted a Scorpian Predator III alarm to my 1993 mondeo.
It locks the car fine, unlocks fine. However, I don't know which wire to tap
into to activate the door switches. (Otherwise the auto-rearm reactivates
the alarm and locks the car up again!)
Any ideas?
Thanks

VW Gamma radio with CD changer problems by
Matt Nolan
Hi there,
I've recently bought a 1998 Passat with Gamma head unit and boot
changer.
The documentation with the car has a correct CD-changer supplement,
but the main "Sound System Gamma" manual appears to be for a different
model than the one in the car!
I can't seem to switch the head unit to CD. It will happily select AM,

Help! Why does my Sony cut-out when i turn up the volume? and why does it get so damn hot! by
Rick
I've just replaced my older Sony head-unit because every time i turned the
volume up beyond 50% the sound cut out (even though everything else seemed
to continue functioning - the display continues to count the track / time
etc.) - the only remedy was to power off and back on again. I figured it was
just getting old, so ripped it out and got a new one.
Unforunately the new head-unit (4X50W)...

Installing alarm for MY00 206gti anyone? by
Jim
Trying to install my own alarm in the above car. I've tried to get all the
wires from the BSI plugs so its nice and tidy but still cant find the wires
for the door trigger and the hazard lights. Door trigger should be negative
type. Tried the Haynes but it doesnt cover the Gti and even after probing
the connectors...no luck at all.
Any ideas people? Car is MY00.
Thanks!

Flattened battery : ( by
Steve
How long do you expect to play a CD for, when stationary and not running the
engine?
I played one for 15 minutes today, in my new Sony CDXMP40, which has just
been fitted in my new (used) car which I bought last week (so I'm not
familiar with either, or the previous condition of the car battery), and I
ended up with a flat battery. Had to call a mate out with his jump leads.
I have standard-ish...

Sony security by
Stephen Reid
Hi guys (n gals)
I am looking to buy a Sony CDX-M 850MP, I think it is a model that has the
non removable flip front. The front flips around and darkens out to show
just a black panel in the car.
Does anyone know what sort of security (from theft) this offers?
I know kenwood used to offer (and still do... I think) a scheme with face
offs where if the radio was stolen they would replace the...

Car Audio Setup by
Partch
Can anyone please recommend a good car setup for me please.
I currently have a 1998 Ford Escort GTI with standard speakers. I
have a good MP3 Head Unit feeding them. I also have a mosfet 360w Amp
which I can use. I wish to spend around £250 - £300 upgrading the
speakers and installing a modest sub.
What would be the best route to go? I believe that I would be wise to
fit good speakers in...

Sony compared to Kenwood, Pioneer etc by
Jon Fox
Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a 4 channel amp and four speakers. I'm not looking
for the ultimate setup, but something that sounds reasonable for a
reasonable price. Previously i've used Kenwood amps and Pioneer
speakers and have been very pleased. I note these days that Sony are
very competitive for these items - e.g. the Sony XM-444 amp is a
similar spec to the Kenwood KAC-749S but approx 2/3rds...

Audi A3 BOSE speakers by
John B
Hi,
This is an embarrassingly basic question, but here goes...
How do I identify whether I have the Audi BOSE speaker upgrade on a 99 A3?
Just bought it second hand and assume that it doesn't but don't actually
know how to confirm this.
It has the Concert tape deck which shows "BOSE" when switched on and there
is an Audi labelled sub in the boot. There are 6 unlabelled speakers.

MP3 Head Unit Recommendations by
Dan405
OK guys,
Need an MP3 head unit, must do WMA, MP3 (well duh...), variable bit rates,
bit rates up to 320 would be nice, a remote would be cool, as would an input
(but not necessary), 4 x 50w min, obviously anything that conforms to the
above spec will have the necessary outputs for sub/amp etc i assume? No
more than £200.
Not looking for the best obvioulsy cos i only have £200, but summet good...

opinions on the Blaupunkt Modena by
MeatballTurbo
Looking at the latest CD53 model as they have on Bluspot.co.uk which
seems to be cheaper there, than the CD51 and CD 52 models on sale else
where.
I know it needs an additional cable, but that seems cheaper than the
Pioneer and Sony Unilink solutions with their breakout boxes.
I imagine that the output will be at least as good as my basic Panasonic
unit that I have in now, and the CarPC...
