Arcam CD72 stopped playing CD-R discs by

I've got an Arcam CD72 player, several years old, which has just stopped
playing newly burned CD-R discs. I've previously had no trouble playing
home-made discs, but I recently replaced my CD Writer with a Liteon, and

I got it working by downloading some of my
MP3 files on to a flash drive, which I

Does anyone have any recommendations about good enough in-ear headphones
for a portable MP3 player (no extra amplifier) for use when travelling?
Specific models or general advice about what to look out for and what

Like 'speakers I guess only my ears will provide the right answer

Replacing 'combined capacitors' on vintage jukebox amp by

Hi,
I've got a complete capcitor replacement kit for a 1960 Wurlitzer
jukebox amp, but on the amp there are two 'combined' capacitor units
(metal tubes) and the kit i've got has the separate capacitors. Any
idea how these would be wired? One tube had four caps internally with
four pins on the bottom, & the other has three internal caps with
three pins.

Rega Tone Arm Thread Size by

Does anyone actually know the thread dimensions and type of
thread on a Rega TA base - the bit that bolts through the
plinth.
As far as I can work it out it 7/8" 25TPI 55Deg pitch. In
other words a totally unique thread :-(
None of my thread gauges can identify it. Can someone
please give me the actual specs.

In any speaker, when you put the volume up high, there is more
electric buzzing.
1) What is this buzzing called?
2) What specifications in a speaker reduce the amount of buzzing as
volume is turned up? e.g. low/high impedance, sensitivity, etc.

Noise distortion when playing LP's by

Hello all
I have a Project record deck, and recently replaced my Ortofon stylus,
and now I'm picking up noise/feedback type distortion when playing
LP's.
It seems to be picking up vibrations from the next groove ,as when I'm
standing over the record deck I can clearly hear whats soon to come
out of the speakers................
For some reason it always appears worse from the middle of the LP...

Virtual battery operation ? by

Repaired a Technics SU C2000 control amplifier, which is just a preamp. An
LED displays that it is in this VBO mode.
The SU C1000 has a battery back for this, but no battery pack in the C2000
unless it is somehow hidden in the faux (poids for your bucks) heavy metal
sub frame. No monster caps either , so what is this all about ?
