WO 892 Output transformer from R.F.GILSON Ltd. Wimbledon by
[email protected]
Hi everyone ,
I am unable to find any information or data on a model of ouput
transformer made by R.F.GILSON Ltd. Wimbledon. I have found a pair of
these in a clearance bin a flee market here in Montréal , (Québec).
They appear to have never been used. WO 892 hand written on each
(possibly a model or part number ?) PP U.L (A & SC terminals on a
paxolin board) 3.7 / 7 / 15 Ohms at output.

Use 100 Volt AC radio in UK? by
Eddy[_2_]
Can anyone tell me if a radio that has a United States 110 Volt AC plug
on it can be used in the UK?
Years ago I bought a radio alarm-clock with a 110 Volt AC plug on it in
Far East and I have been using it here in the UK for the last ten years.
However, I have just turned it over and looked at it carefully and on
the back it states: power supply 110 Volts - 220 Volts.
The machine I want to...

Miniature or ceiling speakers by
Chris J Dixon
A kitchen refit means that my existing Mission wall-mounted
speakers, which I feed from my hi-fi via a speaker switch box,
are too large.
Has anybody had good experience with either ceiling, or very
small wall-mount speakers? A sub-woofer is out of the question,
by the way.

Converting audio files by
Rob
Does anyone know the best way to convert wma and ogg files to something
iTunes can handle?
There is:
http://www.easywma.com/
and its ilk, but I'm not sure how it goes about it.
In the past I've converted the files 'up' to wav, and then 'down' to the

Analogue radio (FM/AM) completely on the way out? by
Eddy[_2_]
Hi Guys, you've been really helpful in the past with audio problems, can
you help me out with this one, please?
Am really flummoxed with all the media reports of the digital
change-over. Can anyone tell me if FM and AM radio are definitely going
to be killed, i.e. completely, when the "digital change-over" happens?
Here I am in 2008 needing to buy a NEW bedside radio, but we live in
South West...

New Sugden pages by
Jim Lesurf
Just to let people know that I have recently added a couple of pages on Jim
Sugden's work to the audiomisc website.
One page is in the J. E. Sugden section, and has some photos of early
models. The other is in the 'Hi Fi News' section and is a version of the
article on Sugden which they published last year.
Slainte,
Jim

Detecting re-encoded mp3's? by
Stimpy
I've been sent some .mp3 files that claim to be 320 kbps but they sound
pretty ropey. Is there any way I can detect if they've been re-encoded from
a lower bitrate?
TIA

Santana - Caravanserai. by
John Frum
If ever there was a great album crying out for a re-master, this is it.
I've always found it suffers congestion and poor dynamics, particularly
on "All The Love Of The Universe" (the greatest track, IMHO).
Finding this on Amazon -
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000A2I1B - I ordered a
copy.
It arrived today and I find it's exactly the same as the bog-standard
cd issue I bought 4...

Valerian Vinyl by
Iain Churches[_2_]
There were a number of very interesting new releases on
vinyl last year. One of the most important of these
is the double album "Ray Sings, Basie Swings",which is
especially significant because it sounds like a genuine
collaboration, although it never actually took place.
The vocals were "peeled off" from tapes of some
Ray Charles' recorded concerts given in Germany
and in London during the...

DAB aerial by
Dave Plowman (News)
Just come back from my local B&Q by Wandsworth Bridge, and notice they
have DAB aerials in their 'one pound' section.
It's an external mount folded dipole type with F-type connector on the
aerial. Complete with wall mounting and 10m cable.
Not the highest quality I'm sure but maybe the best value anywhere?
