Splitting audio out by
Simon
I have a mobile phone (SE K750i) with a 3.5mm audio adapter to connect
to a 3.5mm audio output source, which enables me to redirect the
volume from the phone to headphones or external speakers. However,
when I do this, I lose the microphone function of my phone. Is there a
way I can split the audio output to connect an external microphone to
the phone?
While I accept that an audio out will...

Riding tall on Green and Beloved Island by
Robert Morein
Jute Charlatan McCoy bleated...
Since the usual morons have purloined my thread "Come ride with me"
for the usual interminable semantic argument, I have started a new
thread for the photos of my world tour of my little patch of the
southwest corner of the Green and Beloved Island.
As a professional intellectual I am also a fulltime skeptic and when Jute

Creative T20 PC speakers by
Steve Swift
Any comments on the Creative T20 speakers for use with my PC?
They obviously won't compete with my KEF 104AB's but then I don't sit
two feet away from the KEF's.

Earth loop problem by
Steve Swift
I'm setting up a small system for our holiday home. I'll be using an old
QUAD 33/303 combo that's been in my attic for years and a pair of Rogers
LS1 speakers that I never got out of the box a few years ago.
It works beautifully when connected to my CD player. Then, for fun, I
decided to use this system in place of my tiny SONY PC speakers for a
while...
I get an earth-loop type hum from...

VARIOUS ARTISTS "Seedmouth" CD by

VARIOUS ARTISTS "Seedmouth" CD
(1996, Cold Spring # CSR12)
Dark ambient always had quite a strict definition, which was
enough
for many bands and solo-projects of musicians worldwide.
Minimalistic
and free from pronounced details or emotional outbursts, it
carries a
lot of the hypnotic effects, created due to monotonous sonority

Azur 640T-V2: RDS text on display seems to be corrupted by
Max Headroom
Hi all,
Since a few months, I own a Cambridge Audio 640T-V2 FM/DAB tuner.
Perfect sound, perfect looks, perfect receiption, lots of radiostations,
however...
In FM mode, the displayed RDS text seems to be corrupted: before the usual
end of line, the textline is aborted and overwritten with same text again. A
sort of carriage return, but far to soon according to displayed text and not
always...

Advice on setting up a system based on compressed audio files by
Nige
I'm in need of some advice on setting up a good quality domestic stereo
system based on digital audio files.
Basically, I'd like to transfer my collection of around 500 CDs into
high quality digital audio files using a lossless compression method
(or 320kb MP3 if absolutely necessary) - and have them available for
instant access through my hi-fi system (based on a good quality 200W
Sony amp and...

Rather than keeping a tally of how effectively they have wasted energy
getting nowhere, these eco-yobs would be better employed if they
attached their machines to stationary generators and plugged
themselves into the national grid.

Technics SL-1500 - Where can I get a cheap dust cover? by
lordy
After returning two noisy Project Debuts to Richer Sounds - I went the
2nd hand route and got a Technics SL-1500 almost by luck as I was
actually collecting a Yamaha DSP-E800 from fleabay, and the owner was
about to put the turntable on.
Nice solid construction. These things must run for decades. Two
problems,
No dust cover. (The seller bought it like that off fleabay again).
Any good ways to...

MOSFET power amp..??? by
Keith G
After the recent talk here about MOSFET amps I have been watching this one:

Anybody got a opinion - I can't see any speaker terminals in the pix, is it
summat weird for studio use only? (I would need to be able to use it as an
ordinary 'power' amp...??)
Also, any problem...

Budget AV equipment racks? by
Peter
Hi all...
Whilst awaiting for delivery of a new Panasonic 32" LCD, I'm looking
for recommendations for AV equipment racks. Apart from supporting
the LCD, I would ideally like the rack will have to accomodate a
Denon 2910 DVD player, Sky HD box and Panasonic DMR-ES10 DVD recorder
and Aegis Evo 3 Center speaker.
I've seen the prices of specialist racks (ie Alphason, Atacama,
Soundstyle etc)...

Recycle old Warfdale drivers ? by
Jo
I popped one of the bass drivers in my lovely Warfedale speakers. The kit
was ancient and I replaced them with smart new IPL S5TL dome transmission
lines, they sound great.
So now I have these working Warfedale drivers and passive crossovers...two
tweeters, two midrange and one 12" bass driver that seems OK. It seems a
pity not to use them. Haven't got any data at all on them. I was...
