Infinity RS-3B Bottom Base by
west
I'm missing the bottom base that makes the Infinity RS IIIB tilt back. Does
anyone know the dimensions so perhaps I can build a pair? Thanks.

Their phono leads certainly seem to be very nice quality. And inexpensive.

8 ohm amp and 4 ohm speakers by
[email protected]
I have my eye on a pair of Rotel RB06 power amps. They are stereo, but
by oving a few jumpers can be used in bridged mono configuration.
However, although in stereo mode they can drive 4 and 8 ohm speakers,
apparently in bridged mode they cannot be used on anything below 8
ohms, ruling out their use on my Dynaudios.
Can anyone briefly explain why this is the case? I have no reason to
disbelieve...

Speaker Stand by
Bion
Amongst the tech chat here this is going to sound
like the stupidest thread ever posted. Anyway here goes, and apologies
in advance.
I've just purchased Kef Cresta 10 speakers and Gale T50 speaker stand
from Richer Sounds, and having put the stand together I can't find an
obvious way to secure the speaker to the stand.
Is it supposed to just rest atop the stand? Seems very precarious....

Reflectograph reel-to-reel recorder by
GC
Hi there
There doesn't seem to be much information on the net about my father's
Reflectograph reel-to-reel recorder which he bought in the mid 50s. It was
varispeed, between aprox 2 and 7 inches per second. It still more or less
works. Does anyone know if it would have any value, or of anybody who might
be interested in taking it off our hands?
Thanks
Greg Chapman

d) None of the above?

Amazing parallels between Neandethals. Luddites and Greens by
Andre Jute
The Neanderthals were blond and tall and rather handsome. Some of
their women took pity on the Cro Magnon, who were dark and a bit squat
but had bigger brains (even bigger, relatively speaking than ours).
That is where modern blondes come from. Yet, despite the higher
estrogen levels of their blonde women, the Neanderthals became
extinct.
I won't bother you with references; the semi-literate...

Sony TC-153SD, (late 70s casette recorder), info needed by
Roger Hunt
Greetings ura
I have just exhumed this Sony TC-153SD portable single cassette recorder
and while it works OK for recording and playing cassettes (at the moment
anyway), it will not fast-forward or reverse - the rubber belt slips on
the motor pulley so I suspect a replacement is in order.
Actually, there may be than one belt in there - I have not dismantled
the machine to any extent yet (and...

Speakers to go with Krekk 300i and HK HD 970? by
[email protected]
Hi all,
I am into audio for a couple of years now. I used to play with
constructing speakers on my own, did 3, the last being the NaO.
I just moved to London and I am not able to bring my DIY speaker stuff
(50 kg subs, etc). I decided to look for something to buy.
The rest of the system is Krell 300i & HK HD970.

WANTED: Source For Micro-Miniature Lamps, 12v 25mA Rating by
EADGBE
Nakamichi used some VERY small incandescent light bulbs in their tape
decks for various lighting jobs.
I'm having trouble finding an equivalent lamp for my Nakamichi to
light the individual function keys (Stop, Play, Rec, etc.).
Where can I find a micro-miniature light bulb with the following
specifications:
Voltage/Current: 12 volts, 25 mA rating.

Record Cleaning Machines by
Dave Matthews
Hi folks,
I have a collection of about 50 LPs from the 1970s and 1980s which I
would like to transcribe to CD-R. Most of them are in surprisingly good nick
but a few of them - despite my best efforts with isopropyl-based solutions -
stubbornly continue to exhibit more pops and clicks than a Geiger counter in
a microwave oven. So I was thinking about buying a Record Cleaning Machine
for...

A or B, but not A+B - dodgy switch? by
AP
I posted a while back asking whether I could connect two sets of speakers (8
ohm + 6 ohm) to my one-output amp using a switch. I've finally got round to
plugging it all together and...
I can have A - sounds great.
I can have B - ditto
But...if I try the middle position - A+B - I basically get A, with the
merest mutter emerging from B. (If I then switch to just B, they spring back
to life.)...

Does anyone have the service data/circuit diagram for this '70's golden oldie. I've asked Cambridge but they only have info on
their products from 1994 (when the current owners took over). Thanks.

Was the Synclavier II a design failure? by
[email protected]
This question is more fitting for a hardware engineering design
newsgroup but I didn't find it yet; but here goes ...
The Synclavier II featured several innovations but in the end it
appears to me as a powerful synthesizer that was "bundled" with a
special-purpose personal computer (that also featured innovations in
the infant world of personal computers), geared to exclusively
synclavier...

Simple systems with a HDD by

Does anyone know of any alternatives to the Bose LIFESTYLE 48/38
system, or the Denon CHR-103F based system? Obviously I'm not
suggesting buying the former, but any comments on the latter? I can't
find much about it on the net.

REL Q50 quacks by
John Frum
I've got a REL Q50 which has developed a "quack". Occurs on peaks and
is dependent on the gain; higher = more proneness to quacking.
What's going on?
Dry joint disturbed by the vibration?
Where should I look? I'm quite handy with a soldering iron.
TIA
