Marantz TT-130 cueing not working by
Anthony Roskilly
Hi,
Having just bought some Marantz separates including a TT-130 turntable I
note from the manual that the cueing switch should allow the arm/stylus to
drop gently onto the record. At present the cueing is a straight (stylus
busting) drop - would this be lack of oil to dampen the thing or what ? I'd
be very grateful as although stylii for these decks are not that expensive I
can't afford to...

FS: Stuff (Ping Fleetie, really...!! :-) by
Keith G
OK Martin, how's this for a bright idea?
http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/itemsforsale/itemsforsale.htm
If you post prices you scare people off, if you (I, not 'you') don't post
prices you (you, not 'I') start moaning at me! So I've turned my For Sale
page into a mini *non eBay auction* - people email me with a 'maximum bid'
and either win there and then or I say 'Reserve Not Met'!! (They...

As I have mentioned in the past, I get a trickle of correspondence from
idiots who just don't seem to be able to settle for a stack of 'safe name'

I know will be of interest to one or two he

This'll entertain you:
Yesterday, I got a call from the owner's son of the (hifi/telly) shop my
mate Shiny Nigel works in: 'I've got something here that might be of
interest to you??
Intriguing, but I wasn't expectatious - that grabber eBays anything and
every thing worth having that comes in by way of p/x. Turns out he had
'about a hundred' LPs that an 'audiophile' had left there and was I...

Baking open-reel tapes: hub question by
[email protected]
Some kind members of this group explained to me that my open-reel tapes
suffered from 'sticky shed' syndrome and gave me links to sites that
explained how to bake tapes. However, most of my tapes are on plastic
hubs, which presumably would melt during baking. Can anyone suggest a
solution to this problem, or point me to someone who would sell me or
lend me some metal hubs that I could...

Where to download Cool Edit 2000? by
DAB sounds worse than FM
I bought Cool Edit 2000 prior to it being taken over by Adobe, but now I've
lost the installer .exe file. I found a copy of the installer exe file on
the net, downloaded it and installed it, but it doesn't allow you to enter
the serial number, so I can't use it to save anything because the 30-day
trial period has run out.
Does anyone know where else I can download Cool Edit 2000 from? (the...

New (old) turntable, and other upgrades coming. by
Andy Hewitt
I'm currently upgrading some of my hi-fi here, and just got an old
Technics SL-1800 off eBay, with an Ortofon VM20E cartridge attached.
If only I knew what a difference it would have made to using my old Sony
midi deck, I would have done this years ago. The difference in sound
from just changing the deck alone is astonishing. I've only had a chance
to play Ultravox Vienna so far, which was my...

Noise isolating ear/headphones. by
Tony Gartshore
Does anyone have any experience of the relative merits of active, noise
cancelling headphones as opposed to passive, ear canal type isolating
earphones ?
I want to get a set to use with an MP3 player on trains and planes. At
the same time I would also like to be able to use them with a radio at
motor race meetings.
My requirement is to be able to listen at sensible ( low) volumes.
Decent...

Just as your supposed "diagram" didn't show what a ground loop is,
your "evidence" isn't evidence.
Your posting was essentially an assertion that if you connect up a

understand why you shouldn't connect a microphone the way you suggest,
but it is a fact.

FS magneplanar 1.6Rs by
jason slater
I'm going to be selling my Maggies, 1.6Rs in black, with a lovely cherry(?)
frame.
Anyone interested, or have any idea of the best place to sell. I'm tempted
by Ebay, but I've yet to see any planar type speakers on there.
I'm down near Brighton & can of course Demo. Come complete with original
boxes & magnets for ribbon tweeters.
I'm not sure what they are worth, as they don't come up too...

Hi, I have a SONY 55ES DAT machine. It requires a repair. I know, probably
not worth it but I LIKE DAT!
Can anyone point me to a service centre that can deal with SONY DAT? I
used to use SAS (Leeds) but seem to have closed down.

Removing Denon pre-amp by
[email protected]
Hello, uk.rec.audio
I have a Denon PMA-250SE with the phono pre-amp fitted.
I have no need to connect a record player to the amplifier.
I also have a need for an additional line-level input.
I understand the phono pre-amp is an add-on to the amplifier.
