Arnii Krooborg caught lying (again) by

Poopie demonstrates his fealty to the grubby-fingered goal of
institutionalized stupidity.
Here's the exact quote from your own mouth, Arnii:
"... one of the all-time most emotionally moving pieces of music

Springtime for ubilicals and tubeheads by
Andy Evans
I'm trying to decide on that age old question of what connection to
make from seperate PSU chassis to main valve amplifier chassis. I'm
thinking in terms of a shared PSU and two monobloks, so connectors
would only have to take the power to one amp. Criteria I decided were
essential we
a) low cost (so no Amphenol connectors)
b) potentially large number of pins (at least 15)
c) locking (so can't...

Magic cables? by
Laurence Payne
Just two days now until I'm invited to the London offices of What
Hi-Fi to "....see and hear the differences cables can make to a
system." That "see" worries me a little. But I'll try to arrive
with an open mind. Report will follow.

Could some kind technical soul help me with a line level amplifer circuit - details below? by
equills
Hi!
I'm looking for a straightforward HiFi circuit for a line level
amplifier. This is to give up to +10dB from the output of my
NAD ST402 tuner, down the line to an M-Audio Audiophile
A/D converter, thence into the PC for digital recording.
A rough spec would be
Input overload - better than 2V.; distortion better than 0.1% total.
Line in - line out 0 to + 10dB variable

OT - printed circuit heating elements. by
Dave Plowman (News)
Excuse the OT post, but there I'm hoping the wealth of knowledge here
about things electronic can help me.
Most will have seen those flexible ribbon type connectors used on some
CDs, etc. It's a thin flexible plastic which is copper clad then etched
into tracks. Pushes into an edge connector.
A similar idea is used for low output contact heating pads which have to
be very thin for physical...

FA: Koetsu Black MC Cartridge £100 by
[email protected]
I'm selling my beloved Koetsu Black cartridge which has been sitting
around to be rebuilt by either Melvin Ang at Koetsu Japan or Expert
Stylus Co in the UK (I believe Garrott Brothers, VDH and many other
will offer this service) I was quoted about £300 for ESCo to rebuild
it with a new centilever assembly but I simply haven't the time and so
I am reluctantly selling this to someone who will use...

Turntables at giveaway prices by
Iain Churches
Some time ago, I mentioned the EMT range of turntables
on this NG and Dave P remarked that he had thrown
several of them onto a skip.
An EMT 927 was sold a couple of days ago on e-Bay
for Euro 16,938. The 927 is *not* considered to be
one of the most valuable models:-)

OK, it's quiet again... by

....so here's summat to amuse you - a 'ukra team effort'!!
I've been posting crappy open mic recordings made with a little lapel mic
here for some time now - so, by way of reward for being so polite about
them, here's a couple of tracks recorded with Nick's Behringer 'measurement'
mic from a 'test CD' that I have been recording clips from and sending to
Don for analysis. (This has been...

Removal of Musical Fidelity X-150 phono stage by
rws_63
Does anyone have any experience of removing the phono stage from a
Musical Fidelity X-150 amplifier?
There is a separate riser PCB from the main PCB which has "PHONO MM"
written on it together with a number of connections to the main PCB but
without some more info I don't know what to do.
Apparently the lower powered X-80 amplifier (which does not have the
phono input) shares the same PCB and can...

R3 bitrates by
Malcolm Stewart
Have just heard on today's R4's Feedback that, following complaints during
the Proms, R3 is being put back to 192 kb/s; unless broadcasting R5 forces
it & R4 down to 160 kb/s.
(Hope I've got that correct!)
Seems that the new encoding equipment has been found to be less good than
hoped for.
